It would have to be either a book or my Nintendo DS. Depending on the length of time I have to wait, possibly both. Phoenix Wright has proved an excellent distraction for long train journeys, and the second game will probably do likewise. On the whole I find it harder to concentrate on books when I'm in public though. If there are likely to be distracting sounds and sights, the DS is preferable.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
