The most important thing to know is what kind of a device you use to connect to the internet. Is it a USB modem, or is it a router? If you're using a router, you shouldn't see that message at all. If you're using a USB modem, then you computer thinks you have a problem with that modem... which considering that you can post... you probably don't.
Jam it back in, in the dark.

Do you still have the software for an older modem installed? Is that possible at all? I can't see that error message arising in conjunction with your router.
Is it possible that someone else installed modem drivers for whatever retarded reason? Check your internet settings in the Control Panel to see if there are any connections listed there that shouldn't be. There's nowhere I can't reach.
