It's easy to do, it works well with a large number of games, and it is well worthwhile. It only takes a while to learn how to convert your games. Once you've done it the first couple of times it should become second nature. The biggest problem for me is memory stick space.

That site has a few guides. There's a tiny bit of outdated information there, but if you ignore the references to specific firmware it should work. If you need more indepth informatin about the latest tools and whatever, try the MaxConsole Forums.

To answer your question, your PSP can already play PS1 games. Sony included a PS1 emulator in the firmware a long time ago, for games downloaded from the PSN store. The scene simply learned how to use it for any game. I wish they'd hurry up and do the same trick for running PS1 ISOs on the PS3.

You don't need to install anything on your PSP, but you don't just use the ISO. That site I linked to has the instructions to convert your ISO into what the format compatible with the PSP.

There are some exceptions... not every game works, but a lot of them do. Some games work better on the emulator from a particular firmware version. There is a program called POPS Loader which allows you to load the emulator from a different version of the firmware. POPS is Sony's name for the emulator.

You'll find a summary of what games are compatible on Maxconsole, and a more detailed list is available
here. Games with more than one disc can be a problem... but there are ways to get around that. Games which require the right analogue stick just aren't playable. Games which require all four shoulder buttons are a little bit difficult too.

The CPU is from the same 'family' as that of the PS1, so that probably helps. I know the PS1 CPU was called an R3000 processor, and I think that the PSP CPU is called an R4000 as though it is just an upgraded version.

That's surprising. PS1 CDs seem relatively tough, to me.

I'm pretty sure this forum doesn't care what games you copy. Sad to say, some games like Xenogears are really expensive now. If you don't pirate them you won't play them. I never got myself a copy back in the day, even though I've got a whole bunch of other moderately rare RPGs from that era.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

There is. You need to rename the memory card file to the ID number of the game you're playing. You know, the one that is like "SLUS_123.45" or something, and then you can use a plugin called CWCheat to import it.

Sounds like there's something wrong with your CWCheat plugin then. Try reinstalling from scratch.

My persona 2 also hanged...in battle when the slime cast a spell. I'm re-uploading it just in case the copy was just bad.

There's an app called Popsloader which lets you use different versions of the emulator. Try grabbing that from your favourite hombrew site and read the readme. If you still can't figure it out, let us know what's not working.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
