Am I the only person in the universe who thinks that the 3rd game is just as dark as the second? I mean, CHRIST there's some fucked up shit in there. Plus the tweaked battle system improves (IMHO) over some of the things that made the Covenant occasionally overly frustrating.

Oh, and I second the one mention of FF X-2. Holy god, the fights can be so fast, and the ability to change jobs on the fly (lol dressup) makes it very enjoyable. Completely different from the fabulous FFX turn-based system? Yeah. Worse? Not at all.

I also really enjoyed Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit for the EU folks). It's like playing a movie, sorta, and, while certain aspects of the story are stupid, I felt the game was very enjoyable.

Nobody's mentioned Xenosaga Series yet. Yes. I know. But I really enjoyed the interplay of the characters throughout all 3 games, even if it's intentionally obtuse at times. Sad for KOS-MOS.

I second Deni's Psychonauts recommendation, with the caveat that it's a little better on the XBOX while still being a fantastic game.
