As a sign of just how long it's been since I've seen Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, I just realized that Bill's dad fucks Missy on Bill's bed at the beginning.

I dunno, I didn't mind it, considering how it's one of the few canon things that didn't get fucked up by killing Kirk's dad (who was actually ALIVE to raise him in the original universe). Not that Kirk wasn't a hellraiser, but.

Content-wise, I watched Charade earlier this week. Fantastic, and I love how the movie can't decide if it wants to be retarded funny or a mystery film.

So, I watched Annie Hall. The movie is fuckin-a incredible. It also makes me want to slap Lena Dunham for going nuts when she was called this generation's Woody Allen. Learn to take a fucking compliment, bitch. When your hallmark is comedy with exceedingly realistic dialogue? Yeah, focus on the squickiness of the creator instead of his work WHICH IS WHAT THE COMPARISON IS FOR.



If I couldn't separate the person from the art, I wouldn't enjoy Wagner, what with him being a thoroughly awful human being, much less this fantastic fantastic romantic comedy. Also, Family Guy cribs wholesale from the movie A LOT.

Near the end, there's a shot so fantastically composed, it's classical in its art. It involves a sweeping dress, for those of y'all what haven't seen.

Muppets Most Wanted is a much better movie than the last, mostly because it's actually a Muppet movie, and not a Jason Siegel/Amy Adams vehicle that has Muppets in it. Don't get me wrong, I like both of them, but. The bit with Penelope Cruz was so reminiscent of The Muppet Show, it hurt.

I've watched Lords of Salem and V/H/S recently, so here's some thoughts:

Lords: Dear Rob,

More horror/gore, less titties. I would forgive the lack of gore if the movie was scarier, and I love me some surreal horror. The music wasn't bad, tho.

V/H/S: not a bad little anthology flick, although the final segment was the best, and the frame story could have gone away. Ti West underwhelmed this time around.

For the record: I don't think the tits in Lords of Salem would be a plus even if you enjoyed them in a heterosexual manner.

Holy shit, The Innkeepers. More Ti West goodness, this time exploring a classic ghost film with some nice comedy elements (the bit where she was throwing the trash away was some of the funniest shit that I've seen in a long time from something that didn't explicitly label itself a comedy.) Also extremely intense where it needed to be, and some fantastic sound design bringing the creepy.

As a follow up to previous V/H/S 2. Much better frame story, not least because they weren't horrifyingly asshole kids, and the sequence with the cult was completely insane, although it did get a little narm-y. "Sleepover Party Alien Abduction" was the worst of the lot, this time. I didn't like the movie as a whole, but the aformentioned cult segment was worth the price of admission alone.

EXACTLY. Also, did you see the ghost at the very end? As another note, I love how its R rating is earned for reasons horror flicks used to be R-rated: fucking scary, without a bunch of swearing or explicit violence (I recommended it to my mother for that reason, as she likes the genre, but not its excesses). And I like gorn.

So I marathoned my way through Supernatural to be ready to watch it as it's airing this season, and it's not a bad background noise while doing other work show. I really only paid full attention to season openers, midpoints, and enders. Also, the fact that Booger plays the Metatron made me super happy. Even though he turned into a giant bag of dicks like every angel in the series. Yay Deism!
