Great week with a strong dose of quirkiness and fun. Was particularly surprised with the range and diversity. Tim Follin is certainly very versatile and talented. There was even an ambient track (!!!).
(3 points) Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Amiga Game Rip) - Title Very infectious and nicely developed. Don't quite remember Amiga tracks sounding this good. Easily my top pick. (2 points) Ecco the Dolphin - Defender of the Future (Game Rip) - Aquamarine Bay I was quite shocked at the long track length but, thankfully, "Aquamarine Bay" is one very neat ambient piece. Didn't think Follin would venture into composing overtly atmospheric pieces. Very dreamy and soothing. Would be even more shocked if the piece gets placed, though. (1 point) Solstice - The Quest for the Staff of Demnos (Game Rip) - Title Surprisingly good and very fun. I dare say it's more sophisticated and complex than a lot of other NES tracks from its time. And the rest... Future Tactics - The Uprising (Game Rip) - Enemy Attack II Nice superspy elements in several places and great groove. I'm reminded of something else but can't quite say what. Super Off Road (SNES Game Rip) - Fandango Pretty catchy. Some parts reminded me of Mega Man X, the only MM game I played to near completion. Treasure Master (Game Rip) - World 3 Follin does not fail to impress me with his mastery over synth. For something so primitive, there's certainly a lot of weight and substance in "World 3." I liked the well integrated sense of urgency and the general flow of the song. www.timfollin.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk - The Tick Also thought this was supposed to be based on the cartoon series (which I really liked). Nice melody though pity it wasn't further developed. Firearm (Game Rip) - Title Very quirky and groovy. Incredibly tempted to give it a point. Got to love the person on the phone. ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark.
I think therefore I am... I think.
