I'm still mad at the fact that I have to buy basically another GameCube just because they decided to add some extra ram and a new periphrial... and then charge me $50 more on top of what I paid four years ago for the GCN. Honstly while I am getting one and am excited about the games, I think this is the dirtiest thing that a company has done since M$ bought immersion just to get out of a fine.
How ya doing, buddy? |
If you want to hook it into your monitor, just run your input (in this case your Wii) into a capture card on your PC (like $50-60) and then out from your video card into your monitor (obviously).
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Actually when Sony launched the PS2 they were heavely promoting the DVD player then they were the actual game player, not so much in North America, but it was the main selling point in Japan seeing how only about 25% of people in Japan had a DVD player at the time. Therefore Sony is using the same strategy for the PS3... heck it worked the first time around.
As for the Wii not having component cables, yeah it kind of sucks, but I have component cables for my cube and honestly unless you're playing Resident Evil 4... it doesn't make as much of a difference as it does for the PS2 or Xbox. Don't get me wrong, while component inputs makes a picture look better period, I don't support this whole HD bull. I have an HDTV and even with my 360, there's just not enough texture detail to really even use the HD feature... so don't fall for it. How ya doing, buddy? |
Doesn't look like you'll be able to. If you look at this pic the AV port almost looks like the one the Dreamcast had.

Metal Sphere: I have barely even noticed any promotion of the PS3 outside of conventions, so where we the more "hardcore gamers" are hearing alot about the Blu-Ray, who knows how they're going to advertise it to the public. And the adds that I've been seeing in things like EGM and what not mostly talks about the superior power of the PS3 and briefly mentions the Blu-Ray.
AcerBandit: I was just answering BigCN's question. He wanted to know if you could use the GCN's component cable on the Wii, and I told him that you can't because the Wii has a different avi port. Malmer: Alright then man, just thought I'd throw it out there for ya. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Not that it will answer the question at hand, but I just wanted to know that GameTrailers.com has a system walkthrough of the Wii console and controller for thoes who are interested.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I don't think that anyone will know until they get their hands on a brand new retail Wii to find the answer to that qquestion.

Good point. Though it would be cool if it had a mocap sensor aswell. That way you can duck under things and do like blind fire and what not.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, I'll wait and get them off of E-bay... at least they can't be any more expensive.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
And seeing how it's EB/GameStop, it's going to take three times the amount of stuff to make it to $50.

Don't you have faith in Nintendo and their claim that there will be few if any shortages on launch?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I would hope that there's going to be alot of good games for this system at launch since the programming for the Wii is 99% the same as the GC, therefore Nintendo won't have any excuses of developers learning new hardware and crap.
Most amazing jew boots |
Actually you will need one in order to play the SNES and N64 games, the Wiimote only works for Wii games and NES games. Unfortunatly though no price yet that I've heard of.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
The only ones that I want right now are Mario, Red Steel, and Excite Truck so no money shortages for me... well that's after I get the initial money. Seeing how the Wii now comes out 2 days after the PS3 I won't have enough for the Wii at launch... thanks Nintendo.
One other question, I've heard that the Rayman for the Wii is just a collection of mini games put in a linear order to make a game. Is this true, or is it still a platformer with a mini game here and there? *This post has not been spell checked* What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Avanent: Hey, I got a 360 at launch and on my third one now. So not to honk my own horn or anything, but I like to think that I'm pro with dealing with tech support at this point, and from my experiance Microsoft techies are the worst so Sony won't be so bad. Also I still have & use my launch day PS1 and 2 so my experiances have been pretty good. (unfortunatly not everyone is as lucky as me sometimes) And I don't know about you guys but I paid $500 - 550 on launch day for my PS2, so 550 - 650 CAD for a PS3 really isn't that surprising.

SuperSonic: I appreciate the compliment ^^ Life's too short to wait for things to go your way, I like to take things as they come... not when they come.
As for the using the GC controller for the retro games, they haven't officially said yes or no to that, but they've made it sound pretty clear that you need X item to do Y action. So I wouldn't get my hopes up being able to use the GC controller for anything but GC games. But if it does work, more power to the Wii and a few bucks more towards another game. P.S. Has anyone else seend the add-on for the Wiimote to make it more like a gun? I hope that's out at launch for Red Steel, it would make the game so much cooler. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Sprouticus: That would be true, but from the looks of it the game gives you a bit of prep time to switch from FPS to sword game types, so I'm sure that it would be more then long enough to make the simple conversion, between the two.

I remember Tech TV said once that it acted as a Wi-Fi connector period. And that if you wanted to you coul;d connect your laptop to it. Which would not surprise me because I can get a D-link USB -> Wi-Fi connector for around the same price as the Nintendo one, so why should it be any different?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
What do you expect?? The Wii is barely more powerful then the GCN, which was barely more powerfull the the X-box1. So of course it's not going to look much better then the X-box one.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
that's not what I was saying, thoes screens are betas you can't judge the game based on that BS. All I was saying is that the graphics will only be a bit better then that of the GameCube and to expect ANYTHING more is unrealistic.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Elixer: Sorry man. Before I was never able to find out the specs of the Xbox processor, but with some extra digging I was able to see that you're correct. Either way though the Wii is still barely more then the Xbox1, that's not going to change.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
It's also to define the timeline of the Umbrella events a little more clearly, like you said, probably has to do with the story of RE5
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Because Capcom wants an excuse to play with their new dev kit.

That's what I'm looking forward to with the Wii. Games that are epic and your cahracter is limited by YOUR attributes, not some statistical attributes, that would be a Next-Gen interface to me
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Just make sure to not show her how to get to that feature. Or even better, don't even tell her that it's there... that's what I'm gonna do.
