I went in thinking that I was going to hate Lost Odyssey. I've come to dislike traditional turn based RPGs over the last few years. DQ8 for example, I wish I could like, but I just can't quite for some reason.

The thing that LO does that I like is that they don't have 10,000 systems that you have to manage. You just job link, equip 2 pieces of stuff and then go on and kill shit. Sure there's the ring customization, but all you do for that is collect stuff and then choose what you want from a menue, nothing that technical.

The other thing that it does is it has a good gameplay to cinematic ratio. I like cinematics, and while I also liked FFXII, you had to do WAAAAAY too much just to get to the next bit of plot development. In this the story keeps rolling it seems.

Now don't get me wrong. This is far from the greatest RPG of all time, however I do feel that it is the best RPG of this generation. (just edges Eternal Sonata out by having more mature themes)

Side note: It's nice to see a game where Nomura's art style really shows. Kaim TOTALLY reminds me of his sketches of characters like he made for 9 and earlier. So cool.

How ya doing, buddy?

Yeah, it's definately not an OMFG kind of game to get worked up about, however it is a solid JRPG. My take on the music is similar to Russ's. Though the battle theme of the third boss (the worm) was pretty cool.

While I still wish the stories were just done in small flashback vignettes, at least the wiring is done by a famous Japanese writer and a very compitent Japanese translator. If it wern't for thoes two things the written format for the stories would have been a complete throw away.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, spme of the cutscenes can take up to a minute to load.

One thing that I do keep getting with this game are constant DREs. Especially when I don't have my external fan on. I play a lot of Vegas (and for longer sits) and I don't have this problem with it.

So is it just touchy coding or a bad disc? (the condition is emaculate)

I don't know if it's better. I don't think it can match XII's presentation, however it's still solid. And it's a mature themed JRPG which makes it actually kind of unique in some sense.

My only problem with XII was the pacing. There was WAAAAAAAAAAY too much gameplay inbetween story developments where it felt like nothing was ever getting solved at times. But hey to each their own. I know that some out there hate cinematics so XII would be good for them.

For me I enjoyed Xenosaga and MGS's 30minute + cinematics so XII had poor pacing for me.

R6: Vegas has been freezing a lot lately too (has been for many of my friends too) but that's about it.

@Skills
I'm not sure that it's my 360 because while I've gotten an increase of R6: Vegas DREs so have my friends lately too. So I think it's just something with that game and them messing with the servers for R6: Vegas 2. As for LO, I'm thinking it's a disc issue.

Everytime I go to play the game for the first time of a day I seem to always get DREs about an hour in. Then if I restart the game no matter how long I play at this point it doesn't seem to DRE again. Or at least not until another day.

I was speaking idiomatically.
