Hey All

Just letting everyone know I'm new to the board. Been to every corner of the net, and trying to build the idealistic "perfect" mugen to my tastes, but I've been watching this thread for a long time, so I know everyone on here...just not personally. I'm not really requesting anything, just saying hello. Also, I have about 700ish characters...but from what I've read almost every character I have has been requested at some point...but if anyone is really looking for something let me know.

My email is maakar@lycos.com

Nice to meet you all!~

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Doesn't "Shin" mean "New" or in some cases "mind/body"? Last time I checked I thought it meant that, although I guess it can mean a few things.

Does anyone know where a Gen (SFA) can be found? I didn't realize he was so hard to locate...I'm going through my EVE pack and categorizing everyone and totally forgot about the old guy...looking through the various places on the net I can't seem to find a place that has him still around. Tempted to get that 10,000 screenpack...the one I have now holds about 1001 which is plenty...but you can never be too sure.

I have SF1 Gen and SoulGen...which would pretty much be an uberized "Shin" Gen...but who knows.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The gen you want from sfa can be found at randomselect.com just find the link to him. If its gone bad let me know and i'll put him up.
Yeah I checked randomselect before and to no avail

If you would upload him that would be a big help, if you got the time that is. I got a ton of characters too (I'm working on compiling them into a zip when I get closer to about 1000) so let me know if there are any you need. Had some friends that had some rarer ones from back in the day.

PROBLEM: Also I'm having an issue with a character I have...The Hunter Predator...whenever I select him in the character menu it gives me the following error and closes out of Mugen:

"The intstruction at "0x601c2663" referenced memory at "0x601c2663". The memory could not be "read."

Error message: Can't load phunter.air
Error loading chars/phunter/phunter.def
Error loading player 1
Library Error Message: Error in clsn2 in [Begin Action 400] elem 2
Animation error reading chars/phunter/phunter.air

Obviously its an animation error, but I'm not sure exactly how to fix it. The normal Predator (Warrior) was such an awesome character I had to have this one too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

you'll need to run dos2win.exe in the char's directory and then do this (excerpt from the forum):

Now, if your character crash WINMUGEN when you run him (I mean, after the VS screen, WINMUGEN close and show a message saying "Begin action" many times) is because the AIR file issues. To solve this problem, simply let's run MCM (Mugen Character Maker, you can download it in Street Mugen), open the AIR file (F3) with this program and without changing nothing, let's save it in another folder. After that, move the new air file created to the orignal ubication of the old AIR file, and it's done. Now, try it choosing that character again, and you'll see that WINMUGEN don't crashes, and the character runs perfectly.

here's the link to the entire post:
randomselect.i-xcell.com/forum/index.php?topic=1879.0

by the way, i've been looking for sfa gen too but can't find him so yes, if someone could up him, that'd be awesome!

I tried the above, but I guess my computer is a bit crappier than most. When I run dos2win it just shuts down instantly and won't go. And when I run Character Maker it won't open the AIR file...or any files in the directory. The other Predator is a nice creation (Unlike the Abyss (MvC2) and Sigma (MegamanX) I got which glitch WAY too much).

EDIT: I ran the Predator Hunter in Fighter Factory and just saved it and it worked! Also worked for some of the other non-win characters! Thanks for at least giving me the solution..!!

Thanks all!

Here are some characters...just uploading for those that don't have them. A couple were handled already on this thread, and aren't very hard to come by, but for those that don't have them...they are here. Also can be found on the Mugen Trading forum in General PC Gaming too...

rapidshare.de/files/31973062/Power.zip

Characters:

Super Saiyan 4 Broli
Carnage
Super Metroid
Ogre (Akuma/Gouki edit)
MB02 Sagat (Sagat edit for Street Fighter Spec. Ops)

rapidshare.de/files/31975494/Chars2.zip

CHARACTERS:

Alien Warrior (From Aliens)
Predator Hunter (Working version for Win-Mugen)
Predator Warrior
Alien Queen
Juli (SFA)
Juni (SFA)
NES Mario (Can only hurt people by stomping on them and dies in two hits)
NES Megaman

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

10,000 Screenpack

Ok, I checked out the one screenpack that holds 10,000 characters. Its a nice screenpack and, well, that's a lot of characters...but I guess I find myself more leaning towards the iconic menus (with faces) even if they are about a micrometer long on ones like EVE. I prefer EVE at the moment, because, to my knowledge, it holds about 1001 character. My question is:

Do they have any screenpacks that perhaps have categories with dropdown-like menus or "pop-up" menus that turn into the square-icon-face ones? Like the way I pictured the Mugen 10K pack was that when I selected NEOGEO or SNK it would bring up a traditional face chart for me to choose from. So what would be the best screenpack for what I'm talking about...should I just stick with EVE? Thanks to anybody for their input in advance.

Storm's Stage: On the Blackbird - I want a version that goes from day to noon, like in the original COTA. The one I have just stays at day.

Iceman's Stage: Ice on the Beach - In COTA the piece of ice you fought on moved around towards the ocean. I want a version like that. My version just stays in one place.

Spiral's Stage: Mojo World - I want a version where the floor actually breaks several times while you are fighting. You fall about 3-4 times. The version I have doesn't break at all.

On a related note, my Cyclops: Danger Room stage and Sentinel: Genosha stage have a minor glitch in it. They transition just like they do in COTA, but both stages have a hole (I don't know what you want to call it) at the far right of the stage. You don't fall through of course but you can see through it and it looks rather choppy. Anyone know how to fix this? Or if you can't fix it does anyone have a version that's not glitchy like that?

This is what I meant by the holes. Both stages were made by the author SamusAran78.

Thank you! This site pretty much eliminated my wishlist for the Capcom side of my roster. You are the best!! Now I have Darkstalkers, SF3, and much more completed. Also the MUGEN Lost & Found section is very helpful...I recommend this forum very much...

I am utterly DREADING doing the SNK side of the character menu...Its nearly taken me a week to organize and fill in holes from existing characters I have on my hard drives...I can't imagine what its going to be like finishing the SNK rosters and organizing those. When I'm done I'll make a mega-torrent so people won't have to request hardly anything anymore...well, except the stuff I don't have.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

MK Pack?

Does a Mortal Kombat pack exist? I kind of did the cheater's method and used the characters from a MK Mugen Mod for EVE. They are horribly over-powered (not that I'm complaining about that really) but the main problem is that their portraits during the match (the ones above their life bar) are all scrambled (like a snowy channel). They are fairly stable in combat, but you can tell they aren't perfectly matched for normal mugen (as they weren't supposed to be). Tired of my "( )" yet?

Anyways, is there a Mortal Kombat package out there where all of the characters are made by the same person so you don't end up with some characters having blood effects and others not? I'm sorry for being so long-winded, was just curious...the pack I have has pretty much everyone from MK 1-3 plus some Trilogy characters as well...any help would be greatly appreciated...I know Mugen is more biased towards Capcom/SNK, so its no wonder why I can't find more MK characters out there...I'm sure there are some though somewhere....thanks all!

Otherwise, I could live with these guys if the lifebars during combat didn't have portraits above them. If there was an easy way to do that in EVE, can someone let me know? Appreciate the help.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

[QUOTE]There's a Mortal Kombat Project, contains most of the characters.[QUOTE]

That's the thing I imported the MK chars from and they don't work very well with normal Win-mugen. The chars available only work with their screenpack/mod. Anyone have a solution? If I could simply disable portraits during combat (above the lifebars) then that would be satisfactory too.

Please, does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Better Screenpack Than Eve

What is the best screenpack if someone like me enjoys portraits in the traditional sense? I have EVE (doesn't everybody?) and it holds about 728 characters that I can see (28 rows of 26 slots but it holds more offscreen).

Aside from adapting to the Category Screenpacks (where you scroll through characters by franchise), is there a screenpack that holds more characters? I thought it held 1001, but I suppose I was wrong...someone mentioned that the one I was thinking of was probably All Characters Battle Zero, but I can't seem to find the one that is shown on Streetmugen..I got one from a torrent and it looked completely different..any way I can get EVE to hold more...or perhaps find the one shown on Streetmugen? Any suggestions would be welcome, for or against my notions.

Thanks again!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I downloaded the 10,000 screenpack to see if I like it or not...but the only thing that bugs me is the wording for the categories...I tried changing it in the DATA/Select.def but they won't change in the actual game? I wanted to rename them all as like STREET FIGHTER, MORTAL KOMBAT, DRAGONBALL, KOF, etc. but it won't stray from what it already is by default. I skimmed through this thread and didn't see anything....any help? Thanks!

Indeed it does sound n00bish...I actually kind of felt dumb as I just found that out after posting it that it was a graphic and not text. I've only worked with characters, and none of my characters were ever very good. I just know a couple were used to make some of the more finished fighters as I saw parts of my trace code in their definition files. Thanks for pointing out that I sounded n00bish though, I know people on the net need to feel superior to everyone else, but I'm not competing here...just looking for help. Oh well, I guess as they say if you don't like someone's screenpack, then quit griping and make your own...which I suppose I'll have to do.

NOOB QUESTION

Hey all, just have a quick question. It might be the fact that I'm on a laptop that is wrong, but here's my problem regardless...

I downloaded the EVE Version of the 10,000 pack available on Mugen Infantry, but of course I would like to switch around some of the categories....

I'm changing the different categories to other ones that match my character rosters better, but I'm having a problem. If you look here:

mugen-infantry.net/forum/index.php?topic=45821.0

He gives a short tutorial for replacing categories in the screenpack's versus screen, but I'm getting a screwed up result. This may seem like
a common problem, but most of the solutions I've tried aren't working this time...leaving me to wonder if its the software I'm using.

I convert all of the .png images to .pcx and use Fighter Factory to replace the sprites representing the section (example: Garou with Fatal Fury) and the end result is a blank slot in the character selection screen. Not quite sure why it does that, but any help would be greatly appreciated! They are the right dimensions, and they are being imported as a saved pallette too.

SOLVED PROBLEM: Ok, I'm sorry. It was so simple. Forgot to convert to 8-bit before importing....got ahead of myself!!

CyberDragon10K, I would use my Mugen Trading Thread in General PC Gaming (same as this one) for mugen character requests. No one will flame you for posting requests there. Hope that helps!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

No, really, there's a thread specifically for requests, are you braindead
"So in short, this thread will deliver on the following:

1. Character Requests: Request and provide any rare characters you might have."

This thread was started by Soldier right? It says on the first page that requests "were" allowed at some point. It should be taken off the first page if that's a rule of this thread. Also, if people are going to advocate the "more posts=more senority" rule, then they should at least follow the rules on page 1. To me more posts means you have more free time than anyone else. Just saying...no offense XSABIN, UR my hero, still.

But yeah, this thread has become more of a Mugen "HELP" Thread rather than a request thread, which is why I made mine GoGoGojira. Not your fault, really.

People on these threads tend to come off harsh, but they just are just giving you tough love. They just want you to be self-reliant...!

God, BTW: I was looking at my Dan Hibiki I created back in 2003 and HOLY CRAP is it bad. What would be a reasoning behind repeated jumping even though I am controlling him? I'm guessing that's something to do with my cmd file strings...

Mugen Character Creation

Does anyone have any links to some "updated" character creation tutorials? The one I've referenced forever is the old official one from Elecbyte:

http://www.packetsniffers.org/projec...tutorial1.html

I'm looking for (possibly) a newer one, that shows some more modern techniques and/or links on how to do stuff easier than back in the day. I've had a Protokul character unfinished for two years now because I screwed him up. Hopefully this will let me start him over, but I want to do things in a more updated sense this time around. Are there any good programs for doing any of this? I've used Fighter Factory and Character Maker, but the results are often not very great...

Any links to a tutorial, video, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry :(

Sorry guys, I tried. Infernal Monkey closed the Mugen Trading thread, so I'm sure all the requesters will be back in here...I don't think his reasoning for closing it was valid, but I'm sure it was just because Mugen is too big for GamingForce...haha

Blame it on the ones who don't follow post rules...

I will resurrect the Mugen Trading thread on the Illcommunity forums eventually when I get enough posts worked up over there.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
