They're both fiercely competitive. Apple's current business processes are as bad or worse than Microsoft's were at its prime - undocumented APIs to make its programs faster, price fixing, hardware lockins, the works - and yet the government turns away and lets them be instead of kicking their ass in court like they did with MS. Microsoft has mellowed out, although mellowed != going away peacefully
