I doubt any serious politician wants to ban them completely, but most have taken rather strong opinions against them to appeal to the Jesusfreak crowd. It isn't limited to conservatives either; the most prominent opponent I've seen has been Hillary Clinton.

That's not banning video games. That's not even banning violent video games. That's endorsing the enforcement of CURRENT LAWS against the selling of violent video games TO MINORS. Oh so cruel. I think it's a stupid, pointless law, but he's not exactly nuts here.
