Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PS3)

I figure to give it a go and try for a sort of (unoffical) thread of Tekken. Of course speaking on Tekken: DR, it was recently released in Japan and I'm pretty sure there's a good fair amount of people out there that have downloaded the game. Me personally am very pumped for this game (until I get my PS3 that is). March 23rd is the launch date of the PS3 in Europe. And along with that launch is the Tekken: DR download. So this gives me high hopes of it being released here soon in the states. Now, it has been mentioned by a journalist from 1UPYours (Shane) that the US version will contain addition content and features. Of course nothing has been confirmed yet offically from Namco-Bandai. So let the hype begin! If you havee it, share some photos with the rest of the community. Or maybe if you want to share some tips on how you play one of your favorite characters, go for it. Peace out! (EWGF x5!)

I can't wait for it either. I just got a 720P 30" Widescreen TV today so I'll actually be able to start caring about this HD crap now.

I also have Tekken: DR for the PSP and it's awesome, and I thought I couldn't like Tekken 5 anymore then I already did. I just hope that for the US version of DR for the PS3 that they manage to bring Dojo mode over from the PSP version and maybe the user AI network too. Thoes features were really SWEET!!!
I'm looking at getting a 32' LCD Widescreen TV here rather soon within the next month. We have a lot of people around here who play Tekken. Sadly arcades are a thing of the past apparently. So we set up our own touny's up a either some college campus or at a anime store we have down town.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've always been a d-pad player with Tekken so I don't think I'll have any issues. But hopefully they'll fix some of the framerate issues they had with the JA version. The information seemed a little iffy from the Gamepro site so hoping Namco-Bandai puts out an offical statement here next week on the details. And dammit Namco, put a freakin practice mode in it!

So according to the 1UP podcast, Tekken: DR will eventually be fully online to play against others. GOOD news.

Granted there has been some matches in DOA4 with lag issues, but...I have had plenty of matches where it's been lag free and smooth. Although with Tekken: DR, PS3 has the dedication server option. Which in my eyes, would increase a connection speed and make the game less than likely to lag as much, if not, at all. AM2 is just picky about their game. Concidering the game is so much more complex than Tekken.

So by IGN speculation, Tekken: DR will be out Feb. 26th but no offical word from Namco-Bandai. Also IGN has some good high res movies to see.

"Eventually", as in "not from the start"? Nevertheless, if it's true than I'll be playing this from now until doomsday. To hell with the lag comments, I want to play at least one fighting game online.

I hope the servers don't get hammered monday.
Yes. Eventually. Be it true or not, I would hope it is. You'll probably have to pay like $5 as a download but that's so worth it to me. I'd pay $15 to play it online.

Are the ending FMVs for each character included as well? I think I read somewhere that the FMVs had to be downloaded seperately, but I'm not sure.
I honestly don't know. That does sound about right from what I've read over at zaibatsu. Oh, there is talk that you can download the user manual now on the PSN. If anyone is kind enough to post pics or what not.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, looks like the release date, according to IGN has been pushed back to March 1st. Which makes sense since the PSN updates every Thursday. Here's hoping for no more delays.

True that. It's all odd that all this "official" information is coming from game sites and not Namco. But then again, Namco did get an interview with Nacmo on it so maybe they know more than we do. Who knows though. I got VF5 to tide me over in the mean time.

Hrm. Well over at zaibatsu, people sure are bitching a lot about the lack of "Practice mode". Although since Namco is being rather quiet about this, and their site is still saying TBD, I'll bet to see this game not come out till March 23rd along with the EU launch of the PS3. As much as I'd hate that, but the more and more I read into this, that seems like what is going to happen. Maybe Namco is hearing the fans and adding more features? Fixing more of the slow downs? Guess we'll find out come Thursday.

And I keep forget to ask this question. Does anyone know how exactly you'll be able to upload two profiles? And is there some way to take your save to use?

You have to have a second profile for player 2 on the system if you want their stats and custom characters saved for them. And you can NOT use your 5.0 saves for DR. Different coding entirely.
What I mean is, can you save your DR file onto a PS2 card by an assigned slot? Or just the two profiles?

Oh, and it is offical for today's release.

Snow castle. Yes. lol. My favorite stage. If you beat arcade 3 times, you get the old Tekken 5 stages as well. I'm just having a bitch of a time trying to figure out how to get two profiles rolling in vs mode.

I've calculated to if you want a Dark Lord character rank, it'll take you a good 430 - 450 battles in the Ghost mode. But the money is nice.

Well I wouldn't say it's a combo game. There's lots of things to concider like tech traps, mix ups, set ups, and oki.

If you get hit with Devil Jin's eye beam, you deserve the damage it does. Same goes with any unblockable. It's not abusable at all. Just duck it. If it's the flying version, side step it.

Best character I can recommend for beginners is Paul. All you gotta know first is Quarter Circle Forward (fireball motion) + Triangle. You can pick up everything else as you play more.
Don't forget d 1+2

Here's a bad quality video of me fumbling around with the PS3 control vs my friend...

Damn. That's some nice Nina skillz there from your friend. I wish the people around here would play that good. Would be a damn fine challenge. But sadly, no one around here knows how to defeat a Roger Jr. -sigh-

Tekken so desperately needs to be online. Around here, and I don't know how it is with other states, arcades are a dying thing.

Actually he moves around too much for his own good, and does launchers WAY too much. I now take advantage of that. Hopefully we both learn from our mistakes and get better.
That's the problem with local play with just the few set of friends ya got when playing Tekken. You eventually learn each other's style so it becomes a huge block fest. Hopefully we'll be seeing online with Tekken this year or announcment of it.

Goodness. It's time to bump this thread for good reasons.

http://sdtekken.com/2007/08/01/t5dr-online-impressions/

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE is finally up on both the Japanese & Hong Kong PlayStation Stores! SD TEKKEN got a couple hours of hands-on time with the upgrade and we are VERY pleased! US fans don’t fret! T5DR ONLINE will be coming out in North America mid August! Click below for our impressions and some details regarding the upgrade!

Hi everyone, it’s MarkMan again… Just wanted to throw in my two cents on T5DR ONLINE. I downloaded the full 2,800 Yen version off the Japanese PS Store as soon as it went online, the first thing I did after I installed the 550 MB game was jump online.

The first thing I wanted to figure out was whether or not people outside of Japan could play against each other online. Fortunately, YES it is possible to play people all over the world with this version of T5DR ONLINE! I played a few matches against Japanese and Korean players then finally hooked up with some American players to test how the gameplay would fare.

I played a few matches with Tekken Zaibatsu’s very own MrWizard and we both came across a mutual agreement that T5DR ONLINE was definitely playable and as a matter of fact, the lag/latency was pretty good for a fighting game. Later in the evening I tested extensively with SD TEKKEN members Empty H4nd and Ace R., the result is a bit mixed. But overall one thing is for sure, the game is playable and the lag doesn’t make you want to slam your controller on the floor(as long as both you and your opponent have good connections).

The lag would vary from match to match but often times we would have matches that were close to perfect. I used a variety of characters & I was able to do land juggles that would require precise timing… that really surprised me.

Unless you have an awesome WiFi signal I would recommend that you use a wired internet connection when playing T5DR ONLINE. Personally I found that wired was a big enough improvement over the PS3’s WiFi signal to warrant the change.

Aside from the ONLINE portion of the game there is also an updated title screen, survival mode, and the always important practice mode! The practice mode is similar to that of Tekken 5 on PS2 and even has the command capture feature, defensive training, and hit analysis that we all know and love!

Should you wait until the US version comes out? It’s really up to you. You shouldn’t be asking me this because I am a Tekken freak and would have bought it the first day no matter what. The US version is slated for mid August which sets it up for around Thursday, August 16th. If you can wait that long, do so… if not find out how to get it from either the HK or JPN PS stores!

...that leaves the question, who's ready to get their Tekken on later this month?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
