I hope that the CW doesn't cancel this. I thought season 1 was probably one of the most entertaining seasons I've ever watched of any show. I didn't like season 2 too much, but I felt this season got back to where it was in its first year.
I find it a bit odd. Kristen Bell gets more press than Lauren Graham or Alexis Bledel ever did for Gilmore Girls in the beginning and the CW has stuck by that through 7 seasons despite always being named in TV Guide as "The Best Show You're Not Watching". I think the CW would be hard-pressed to find a better replacement, and it would be stupid to dump it with Gilmore Girls in its final season. It's true: how can you keep One Tree Hill who has no writing, no acting, no plot, nothing but pretty people who look nice on magazine racks, but cancel Veronica Mars? And it is kind of like NBC with Studio 60 (though they announced a full season). Studio 60 can't and won't beat CSI: Miami and there is no chance that a CW show will take down House and Law and Order. They lucked out with CBS throwing up it's crappy new show, but still. Be realistic here. Anyway, I just watched this week's episode...very good mid-season cliffhanger. Better than any this year from what I've seen. I just saw this on Yahoo while I was reading up on Veronica Mars:
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
While I was looking up those ratings, I noticed Studio 60 was the 6th most TiVoed show last week, which means that people want to watch it, but can't when something else they'd like to see is on (Monday Night Football is still out there too). It didn't break down demos, I'd bet Veronica Mars is up there in the age group.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
It's scheduled for 20. I'm not sure why they'd leave off the last two...I mean, what better would the CW have to show?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Well, after the first few weeks, American Idol's hour will be against Gilmore Girls and House against Veronica Mars. But a rerun of House from season #1 (my favorite House episode, coincidentally) was the #1 show last night and #5 last week. I wouldn't be surprised if House wasn't the #2 show the entire run of American Idol -- it will certainly be Top 5.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
The odd thing is...if that is the direction Rob Thomas wanted to go with the show, why did he set up another big case with this fall finale? Everything about Dean O'Dell was set up as a huge mystery and if they go and solve it within an episode or two, that will be quite a let down.
Season 1 had a perfect balance of single-episode stories and the whole ongoing mess. I'd like to see them go back to that type of storytelling. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The reports that I read on Veronica Mars (other than that one) says that it isn't on the fall schedule, but they haven't cancelled it yet, and that it might be renewed in the next month or so, possibly as a midseason replacement or Summer 2008 show.
Is the CW fucking insane? I wouldn't be surprised if one of the big 4 picked up Veronica Mars. FELIPE NO
and Brandy does her best to understand
