My progress has pretty much slowed to a halt, as I've been bartering in the trading forum at GameFAQs. It's incredibly difficult to work faster than so many others, but I've been able to come out of it with a male Ralts and a Castform. Works for me, though I'm still trying to find someone with a Spiritomb or Spiritomb egg.

By the way, anybody here need a Drifloon or a Cranidos? I was fortunate enough to nab a female Drifloon on Friday, and I've found so many Skull Fossils it's ridiculous (in addition to the female I was able to revive from one). I'm looking for a Misdreavus or a Shieldon (or a Ditto, or a Combee, or a....), but neither is necessary. Just want to help people out, as well as spread the Drifloon love-- seriously, best pokemon to come out of this generation.

I'll give you a fun item in exchange or a Misdreavus, or both!
Alrighty, let me hatch the bugger. I'll just take the Misdreavus, but what's the item?

@Generic Badass, if you don't mind waiting until end of the week, I can breed a Spiritomb for you. I was lucky to get a Japanese one in the GTS.

Also, is it even possible to trade an old-gen monster over GTS, since you can't even ask for the ones that you haven't seen? So if someone has never seen a Charizard before, they can't ever request for one? I wanted to trade a Charmander for a Draipon(sp?), but I don't think much people would be able to see my request unless they already a Charmander, and that would defeat my whole purpose of offering one on GTS...
That'd be huge, since I've had to deal with assholes who, in the end, only wasted my time.

As for old-gen trades, maybe you can see them in GTS if you battled them in multiplayer? Still not a large audience, though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The PokeRadar allows you to catch a bunch of pokemon not in the Sinnoh dex (Ralts, Torkoal). It's not a ton, so yeah, most from older generations need to be transferred or traded.

Trade a rare pokemon for it?

It might be something Pick Up can find, like Dawn Stones.

Trading requires bartering skills and far-sightedness.

Someone would trade it to you if they get something that is equally (or more) valuable than the stone in return and had no interest in raising a Dusknoir for their party, because that value would be enough to trade up with a desperate person, or trade down for more nice-but-lesser things. I was able to acquire all three starters with just a Kadabra to start.

Think of it like the draft in the NFL.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No, what I'm saying is that they might just use the GTS or trade with somebody to get the Dusknoir in their Pokedex, not caring about its stats, nature, moveset, etcetera.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Now that I actually need one now though. Mine's just a 'what if' scenario.
I've figured it out-- cloning. It's all the rage right now, from what I can see. Put a Pokemon on the GTS, shut the DS off at the right moment, load it up and boom, it's up on the GTS and still in your party/box. Sounds risky, though. Putting up your Dialga and failing... might get stuck with something crummy.

Oh, and for a little update, I've started moving along. Just got my third badge and rushed down to the Safari Zone, currently at 55:00 exactly. Current party:

Lv. 28 Croagunk
Lv. 32 Torterra
Lv. 29 Monferno
Lv. 36 Empoleon
Lv. 30 Drifblim
Lv. 26 Skorupi

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Patience is rewarding-- got me a Ditto (with its Speed boosting hold item) and a female Combee for just a Carnivine (caught five) and a Leaf Stone (mined three). Doing very well for not even owning the fourth badge.

So... anybody need Sinnoh starters, Charmander, or Mudkip?

Well, sort of. Most dual-typings have Achilles heels.

Haha, oh man. I just got a shiny Arceus. This can essentially get me any pokemon I want, though I think I'll keep it.

How ya doing, buddy?

EDIT: To clarify, I got it in a trade. I don't hack.

No, it's not that bad. I can think of worse typings even if it really mattered (which it doesn't, unless you plan to take this into the meta-game). Besides, it's essentially like picking the Hard difficulty for the beginning of the game, which is fun. Yellow was brutal because of that, since you only had Pikachu and your choice of various Normal and Bug-type pokemon which did shit to Brock's Rock-types.

Still, if you're disappointed, a lot of us here can give you any starter you want.

You need a Psychic-type. I personally like Chimecho (evolved from Chingling, of course), even if most don't.

EDIT: Or, you know, use the greatness that is Drifblim.

New:
Allied trainers for 2-on-2 battles.
Various typing combinations.
New hold/evolution items.
Poketch apps for convenience.
WiFi battling/trading. (!)
Mining minigame/sidequest.

Transfers are done in Pal Park, which requires that the Sinnoh dex be completed and the Elite 4 defeated. Obviously only the GBA games are compatible, so you'd need to have FireRed and LeafGreen to see your Gold/Silver pokemon.

Anyway, good trades tonight-- got an Azelf (with Rare Candy) and Cacturne for a Charmander and Skorupi. Oddly enough, it's the Cacturne that looks hacked.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Can you catch Cacturne, though? In the 50s?

EDIT: Oh right, forgot that the capture background doesn't mean it's not from a pre-evolved form. An awfully high level, at least.

You listed what I said I already knew about....but whatever.
No I didn't. You said you knew about hold items and 2-on-2, I said there are new hold items (plates and such) and allied trainers in 2-on-2 (as opposed to just two of your own pokemon against one pokemon from two trainers). The last thing you said you knew was a lack of variety, but I didn't even address anything related to that.

Quote:
And to get Pokemon from Gold/Silver I need to trade them to Fire/Leaf? :\ 'cause if you've actually read what I posted, I also said I don't have those two.
No, Gold and Silver aren't transferable to any installments after it. You have to visit islands in FireRed/LeafGreen that have the Gold/Silver pokemon on them, capture them, then transfer them to Pal Park in Diamond/Pearl. Lastly, I never said you own them, I was explaining the only way it's possible to see Gold/Silver pokemon in Diamond/Pearl (not including the ones you can find in the wild).

I'm a little surprised at how much flak you're trying to give me for helping you.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I try to trade fairly because of how dumb GTS is with demands for Riolus in exchange for Starlys or something. I'm just one person, but a ripple can become a wave!

That said, I'd say the Turwig I got in exchange for my Kadabra was a pretty sweet deal.

Speaking of Spiritomb, have you bred it any? I'm actually starting to net some decent Pokemon, so I might have something worthwhile for you in exchange for one.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll take an egg or hatched one whenever you're on at the same time as me. Have you thought about what you'd like? I can offer you a Larvitar or any starter other than Totodile, Chikorita and Treecko. I should have other things, though.

I heard it kicks ass if you train it right. I don't know of any movesets for it though, but it's apparently pretty good.
It's good because it's Ghost/Dark, which has no type-weakness. The only other pokemon with this typing, Sableye, has shit defenses and as such couldn't be effective at tanking. Spiritomb, on the other hand, is pretty good at it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
