I thought the ending was fine.
Ending spoiler for an awesome game no one played:
The original Suikoden was a great game to play through to the end. After getting over the fact that you joined the Toran Liberation Army for no real reason, you kind of enjoy watching your forces take control of the country, bit by bit. Eventually you defeat the Emperor you swore your fealty to in the very beginning of the game and watch the remnants of his Empire crumble to the ground. After that, the game rewards you with some neat music and info on what happened to all the Stars of Destiny after the war. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
This isn't games worth playing, it's game's worth finishing. RPGs tend to put more effort into an ending than other games, so that's why they're a big chunk of everyone's lists.
The Klonoa games are good to finish, just because the endings are pretty sad. You help make things better in the world, but in the end you just have to move on. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
