Arngrim plays a... semi-large role. He's not a key player in the larger scheme of things like Alicia, but there's still a lot of him in Chapters 3-5. He also has an important role in the ending, so he never just drops out of the picture.
I think you'll like it. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Reviiiiiive--
Game comes out in six days. Anybody excited? I haven't touched the import since I finished Seraphic Gate, so I think I'm ready for another playthrough. Need to get my hands on a new Dual Shock 2, though. Oh yeah, and the official website has content now. Those who've not really been paying attention to this game until now would probably want to check it out. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Eh? Every character you listed plays an important role in this game, and subsequently are fleshed out quite a bit.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
This game doesn't have multiple endings, so you know. Just one, single, shitty ending.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
They make it look like it's Lenneth at first, but then it quickly becomes apparent that it's Hrist. Besides, Lenneth is sleeping during this time period.
It can be a grindfest if you're inefficient. Don't bother levelling until you gain the x2 EXP orb. Don't level anywhere outside of the Palace of the Venerated Dragon (it's the last dungeon before you reach a sort of "point of no return" for special items). You do that, and it's not too bad. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
That's Oddrock. The town is Camille.
Strangely enough, that region (Artolia) has virtually no importance or representation in Silmeria, but is tied in deeply to the history of a lot of Einherjar. FELIPE NO |
Cheesy stuff, but that video's kind of interesting.
I like how they all have that "what the fuck is this shit." look on their faces. Most amazing jew boots |
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I finally got the North American version yesterday.
For the love of God, people, if you want to maintain your sanity in Seraphic Gate, switch the control scheme back to "jump = X, slash = O" (the way it was in the Japanese version). It worked fine in the original where the platforming wasn't so dependent on timing, but the post-game requires a ridiculous amount of mid-air enemy freezing and jumping. You'll never get it done if the crystal and jump buttons are on opposing sides. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Freeing Einherjar wasn't in the first game. That had transfers, but the bonuses for doing that didn't really work the same way.
Really, there's plenty of reasons to go with either. Freeing them nets you nice stat-up items and gifts from the freed characters when you visit, and also clears out your party list which, after a while, will be filled with no-names that you won't ever bother with again. However, unlike the first, you don't get released Einherjar back in Seraphic Gate, so when you free them, they're gone for good in that playthrough. Some are also worth keeping for interesting, in-battle conversations with other characters. I, for example, keep Falx for being the only Einherjar that will speak directly to a story-related character. It's also nice to have backup for whatever may arise later on. Something you could do is wait, and then only release some of them. You get more and better stat-up items if you free Einherjar with good weapons and armor equipped, so delaying gratification for better rewards is usually a solid plan. I wonder what kind of items I'd get if I released an Einherjar with Angel Slayer equipped... This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Do not listen to Manny. You won't be thanking him later; you'll be flaming him to shit. Levelling Lezard to level 45 before a certain point nets you two very nice items. Not something you'd regret, right?
I have a feeling this is what Forsety said, but I'm browsing with only a keyboard and have no idea how to open a tab like that without a mouse. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Play the original first, if possible. Like I said before, certain plot twists lose their impact without knowledge from the original game. Plus there's a lot of spoilers about the first in this.
If you can't, though, it won't ruin the experience. It might be kind of interesting to play the first afterwards, just because you can appreciate certain characters a lot more. I was speaking idiomatically. |
And if it makes you feel any better, your effort levelling him isn't wasted once you beat a certain boss in Seraphic Gate. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Chapter 6? That would be the last chapter, right? The one that starts at the tower.
Heh, four characters join in that chapter, but only one will be around for the final boss. FELIPE NO |
I'll just leave it to Rydia or whoever regardless, just because I don't understand at all what constitutes as a spoiler on these forums. I've been censored and censured on one occasion for mentioning that one game's mini-map becomes more detailed when you progress. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Uh, die? Definitely taken that the wrong way.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Hm? Well, they are for limited time, but they should still be around until Chapter 5 or so. I think I finished Turgen Mine after Audoula when I played the import.
Most amazing jew boots |
No, that's kind of what happened to me in the import, heh. It might just be locked for a story event or something. Try progressing a little.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Valkyrie Profile worse than Silmeria. Ahahaha.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yes. That's more than enough to handle most monsters on the first four floors.
If you used the right sealstones, you could probably beat all but the last two bosses in Seraphic Gate at those levels. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Ah, those platforming parts could be worse. I played the import without realizing the mid-air jump can always be performed if you're holding down the jump button. So, I was doing those puzzles with only, like, a 10% chance of making the leap onto ledges or whatever and still did it.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Accessories and level (aside from the basic release level) have no effect on an Einherjar's release items. Just equipment.
FELIPE NO |
Beating Dirma is ridiculously easy. Just send in your toughest unit alone, and maneuver carefully.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
You know, with the proper set-up, you can easily finish that grinding in less than an hour. It's ridiculously easy to do if you solo with Arngrim and Dylan, and not too bad when you duo with Lezard and Leone.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I typically fight the golems in one of the first areas. The flat, small screen with three easily accessible enemies generally make it faster for me than crabs or the Zombie Dragon.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
