On the flipside, 17 year old Ms. Varker, who had been more than legally drunk, sped down the road, flipped her dad's Denali and killed one of her friends by flinging her out the window of the SUV, is chillin' at home while her father goes to work at a soap factory. Soap? Really. So the discussion here is this: not so much the typical "minority gets screwed by white aristocracy", but how on earth does the legal system allow something like this to get so skewed? The sad part's really the lawyers defending the whore. They eat this shit up and they know that somehow, they'll end up at least getting something for it. The breakdown of morality in the justice system is already fucked up, but the fact there's even a lawyer who's capable of stomaching this kinda of travesty makes me hope like all hell I never have to deal with the business end of the U.S. legal system. There's nowhere I can't reach. That's sad too that folks are so shallow as to point out that he's black and she's white and run with it as a racial issue. That's not even the real concern! It's that she's walking around town like shit ain't shit and enjoying her time, while Wilkerson's fearing for what could happen to the rest of his life just because all he's got is a public defender, while soap-factory-working Daddy's got the best lawyers Scottsdale can provide.
It's all a class stratification thing and it's bothersome that some people, while they've got their anger pointed in the right direction, have the wrong reason for being angry. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
