I'm glad to see that el-shading hasn't been completely abandoned by next-gen consoles. White Knight Story makes some use of cel-shading, but this looks to be full-blown cel.
Looking forward to hearing some more information. I'll try and keep you guys updated as to when this gets a date in GameStop's reserve list. Jam it back in, in the dark. Even after viewing the video, I'm a little stumped. It looked like "Command Mode" had you go RTS-style and order specific characters to a location, at which point "Action Mode" had you control them briefly, like a drastically scaled-down RTS you could take direct control of -- something like Savage, actually.
Still couldn't tell whether or not the combat was turn-based or real-time though. There's nowhere I can't reach. IGN's giving Valkyria Chronicles a very favorable preview.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. Everyone's in for a real treat with the demo -- I got to play it at the Vendor Show a couple weeks ago. Everything's really fluid and very easy to pick up, with a decent amount of challenge to it (although I'm a newb at tactical/strategy RPGs so take that however you want).

After waiting 5 hours for Qore to download and another hour for the demo to download, I finally got to sit down with the demo. This one's different from the one I played at the Vendor Show (which was far harder than the demo's scenario, but then again I suck at tactical RPGs) but no less entertaining. It only further cements my decision to buy this game at launch.
