Sigh. I'll buy the Wild Arms series until it completely dies, just because I was so fond of the first three games. The second one is still my favorite overall, followed by the third game and the first one. But goddamn, Wild Arms 4 and 5 just couldn't do it for me. And Alter Code F just...I dunno, didn't replicate how awesome the first game was. They could've at least added a little vocal talent.
There are lots of RPG players on this board, and a good bit of them have posted in the Wild Arms 5 thread and have already played through it a dozen times, unlocked everything, etc. Maybe it's the hex-based battles or the completely uninspired artistry that turns me away. If they somehow manage the series onto the PS3, hopefully they'll completely rethink their strategy and, in what I think would be a fantastic move, break away from that hex battle system. Wild Arms 3 had it right, more so if there were awesome transformations like in Wild Arms 2. As for the anime, it wasn't all bad, but it wasn't necessarily Wild Arms. Sure, they were in Filgaia, used ARMs and crest cards, and the Crimson Nobles were around, buuuuut hey, it's a spin-off sorta deal. I liked it for what it was. Jam it back in, in the dark.
