WEP Encryption blocks laptop network adapter

Whassat mean? I mean that my laptop (Dell Latitude D600 w/ SP2) won't connect to my router when it has WEP encryption enabled. Even the slightest bit of security prevents me from connecting.

Here's the strange thing -- it lets me connect after I reboot my computer for, oh, about 3-5 minutes, then it boots me off and I can't reconnect.

There's another laptop at my place; a Macbook my roommate uses, and he can connect just fine. And my laptop's network card works, but for some reason only on open connections.

Thoughts?

Edit: Wanted to throw in that I'm occasionally disconnected on my PC tower as well, although disabling/enabling the network adapter solves that problem.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It's 128-bit encryption. I've tried it on both WPA and WPA2, but the results are the same.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Currently we're using WEP encryption. I'm using Windows to connect to the router (so whatever software Service Pack 2 uses), tried switching channels with no effect, and please clarify what configuration you're referring to. I'm kinda new to this whole networking thing.

How ya doing, buddy?
