I've played it. There's no additional slowdown, but load times are still there. As a port, it is "perfect" because it, at the very least, doesn't screw anything up.
In my opinion, it looks a lot better than the 360 version. No unnecessary light blooms, textures are smoother and up-close shots are a bit more detailed. Commentary still sucks though. The coolest feature is that "Get in the Ring" thing where you fight in first-person. It's hard. I was speaking idiomatically. Question about making the 20GB PS3 wireless.
Does it support any USB wireless adapter? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? Gonna have to ask this one again, but I have a little more ground to cover now.
Will the PS3 recognize and utilize a USB network adapter -- specifically, one like what the 360 and the DS have? Also, if it does support, is it safe to assume it'll let me connect to my PSP? It seems wireless headsets connect just fine to the PS3, but how about a wireless keyboard and mouse? I'm referring to the 20GB model. Since it has no built-in wireless, I'm wondering if it can use something like the DS's or the 360's wireless network adapter that plugs via USB to pick up on a wireless signal.
And then if it can, will I also be able to connect to my PSP just like the 60GB already allows you to do? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? Sony came off their production issues they were having at launch, so its really no surprise you're finding them a good bit more easily than over the holidays. Two things can contribute to that, really -- the manufacturing issues having cleared up for one, and now that we're out of the holiday season, no one's running around "I'VE GOTTA GET A PS3 FOR MY KID OR S/HE'LL BE DISAPPOINTED AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT!"
We're still selling them pretty well at my store, but Sony's managed to send us two shipments in one week, so we've also had quite a few to sell. Jam it back in, in the dark. Real quick question for you guys -- I've got a standard CRT monitor with both S-Video and Component inputs on it. Which is gonna be better? I would think obviously component but I don't know much about S-video or how either would look on a CRT monitor.
Btw I know next to nothing about the TV itself. It's a Philips. There's nowhere I can't reach. Even on what would typically be considered a standard-definition TV?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. Cool. In that case, we've got a set of PS3 component cables at work. Think I'll go get 'em. Thanks!

Well, right -- I agree with you entirely, Acer. And owning a PS3 is my primary reason for looking into getting an HDTV. I....just can't afford a good one at the moment. When I buy one, I wanna make sure it's something akin to top shelf.

Eh well, I tried hooking up the component cables, but I guess my TV's just not able to make it look right or whatever. When I adjusted the PS3's settings to component cables, it made the screen look squished. It asked me what resolution I wanted to display at, and I couldn't get anything above standard -- setting it to anything else (480i and up, although 480p wasn't an option for me for some reason) just made the screen black.
So I suppose I'm stuck with composite in, for now. I could try S-video though. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? That's the thing -- 480i made my screen's image get all..."squished" so I switched back. I played the GTHD demo, and everything was gigantic and fairly unappealing to look at.

It was vertically squished -- everything looking taller and thinner. In GTHD, it made everything zoomed in, which was weird. The menu that opens up for the player to select manual or automatic transmission, change the tires and start the race was gigantic; almost took up the whole screen.
I'll go back and try again, but I'm fairly certain I set the aspect ratio to 4:3, as I don't have a widescreen monitor, obviously. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? Okay, I tried it again. So now I have a question -- the PS3 gives me two options, both of which work. One is to select the connection type, being either AV Multi Out using the component inputs, and the other option was component cables in the component inputs. I know it sounds weird and confusing, and it kinda is.
Anyway, the former option doesn't give me the choice for 480p, so I went with the latter option. But when I try it, my screen goes fuzzy and scrolls up and down rapidly, denoting an obvious distaste for a 480p resolution. Does my TV suck? Jam it back in, in the dark. Well now I've got it working, and it appears to be displaying in 480p.
The final problem is this: when I select 480p in the display menu under the Component Cable connection, it still gives me a fuzzy screen. If I leave it at the Standard NTSC selection, it's cool. So it's like it's displaying 480p without the PS3 recognizing/forcing/whatevering. So sup? I'm going to leave it as it is though, because it's clearly better than standard. Text is easier to read and the MotorStorm demo looks much nicer, as does the GTHD demo. So...s'all good, regardless. There's nowhere I can't reach. I guess so then. I didn't think the cables would make that much of a difference (plus I hadn't noted that option, and I don't recall seeing it in the thread. Oh well.) but apparently they have. So, 480i it is then, but it's still quite an improvement.

Considering all those titles are coming in March, we'll have the same amount by then. So I'm rather "meh" on the subject of their launch being larger than the US's.

Had a bit of a problem with my PS3 tonight. I had FF12 in there and started it up, and for some odd reason, the screen shifted to the left a good inch and a half. Anyone else have this problem? After a few soft resets (exiting the game, trying again) it corrected itself.

That was a problem with the 1.5 upgrade. Scroll up a little bit and you'll see that I and another member had the same issue.

Oh goddamnit. Sony's gonna remove the EE chip from PS3s now? I'll be getting a new PS3 after that and once the new controller is unveiled. Still, I'm glad to hear Sony and Immersion are getting along now.

I can't wait until the new R&C game comes out. They've always been superior titles and this one looks incredible. It's too bad the title doesn't have any sexual innuendo (none that I can see, anyway).

That's incredible! The avatars look very detailed, and I like the MMO-esque Community Space. Moreover, I hope it's easy to navigate and fun to explore. So this Little Big Planet -- wow. Kinda hard to describe, but it certainly looks fun. Definitely excited about owning a PS3 now more than ever. I talked to a customer at my store about it, and he seemed really psyched. He was really impressed with the new features, and when I told him about Little Big Planet he looked very intrigued and wanted very much to watch the trailer. This is definitely a big plateau for Sony, and if it's successful, could spell a big win in the online community and gameplay market.

Arguably, having a game in a retail store is better. In Warhawk's case, if it were online only, then only the people who go online with their console would show any real interest in it. People buying the game would be even lower than that.
However, if it's in a retail store, it would get far more exposure (especially to those sad, backwater people who do not have internet or don't care to use it) and possibly convince some gamers to finally make that online leap. Of course, a free online service with play included would certainly help to sweeten the deal. Speaking of which, has it been confirmed whether or not Warhawk will be free to play? I was speaking idiomatically.
