3 points - Fathom - Water Music - I nominated this, so if that makes me ineligible to vote for it, you can divvy out these 3 points, a point each, to Boktai, and my other two songs I gave points to. I like this song a great deal, and sure, it's "atmospheric" more than melodic, but it's not amelodic either. I find it transportive, and I'm curious if others who haven't played Fathom might feel similarly.
2 points - Perfect Dark Dual CD Soundtrack - Training - I love Grant Kirkhope's aesthetic, and this is no exception. I wish I'd gotten the chance to play this game, maybe I'll pick it up on XBLA when I get a 360.
1 point - pop'n music - GOONIES "R" GOOD ENOUGH - I appreciate this song more than I expected; the melody really is very strange, and I feel compelled to listen a few times to get the whole thing. I like being surprised, this is a good song.
Boktai 3 - Racing from Darkness - I love the driving pace here, I didn't realize Boktai 3's soundtrack had this level of energy to it. I'm encouraged to try the rest of the game rip.
DNA Warrior (C64 Game Rip) - Track 1 - It's not fair perhaps, but the actual sound quality here is a turnoff, and the melody doesn't stand out enough to me for me to get much out of it.
Fantasy Earth: Zero (Game Rip) - Vinel Island - Excepting Final Fantasy XII, Sakimoto has had a hard time catching my ear lately. This seems to wander around like something from a movie soundtrack, more than a game soundtrack. Not very interesting to me.
Metal Gear - NIGHT FALL - A song with a couple good ideas, but it's not grabbing me.
Square Enix Official Music Bootleg vol. 1 - Ice Field - I generally like Tsuyoshi Sekito, but I feel similarly to this as I do the Fantasy Earth song by Sakimoto above. Airy and unappealing.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
