Limewire = bad
Norton = bad I think that the virus is the least of your problems if you are using both of these programs. Go here and follow the instructions on how to remove this from your system. Scroll down a bit and you'll find the part of editing the registry to get rid of it. If that fails, the best thing to do would be to re-format and start again, or possibly use Ghost if your Norton came with it. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
If you did a fresh install of Vista then yes, it would get rid of it, but if you were going to just install Vista without formatting the drive, then there is every chance that it will still remain on your HDD.
If you have two anti-virus programs running at the same time, they tend to think that each other is a virus and conflict with one another. Not that you should ever have two running at the same time. What sort of firewall do you have anyway? There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I would recommend uninstalling Norton, it's only a resource whore anyway. Get another anti-virus. I would recommend Avast!. I have this and it is pretty good at detecting viruses and keeping my PC clean. The home edition is free too.
As for a firewall, go Start ->Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. This will show you if you are running Windows Firewall. If you are then you can just leave it be, but if you aren't sure if you have a firewall running then it would be best to turn it on. There are bigger and better firewalls out there, but again I've been using this for quite a while now and had no problems. I did also have ZoneAlarm, Comodo, and Sunbelt/Kerio at one point or another. Comodo and Sunbelt/Kerio, I found hard to configure, and ZoneAlarm keep throwing up errors, but was easy to configure. Windows firewall may not be the best, but it works for me. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
