For guilt, the first thing that came to mind for me was "The Tell-Tale Heart", by Edgar Allen Poe.
If you want to try something off the beaten path, consider Ray Bradbury's "All Summer In A Day." It's set in a fictional planet Venus where the sun appears only once every 7 years.
