I'm still sad that it had to be designed on rails for Sega to get it right.

I also predict that it's going to be too short.

Even for a Sonic game. D:

^Most people shoot that one down since it's in essence Sonic Adventure 1 in Shadow the Hedgehog packaging.

Also I'd like some new level screenshots plz.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Shadow the Hedgehog should not be hated for politicals reason (he SOLD OUT TO PRETEENS! OMG TEH GUNZ! SAW-NIK NEEDS NO STORYLINE!), yet it seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays.

Shadow was a VAST improvement over Heroes. It shouldn't win any awards, don't get me wrong, but aside from Metal Sonic Heroes was the worst 3-D Sonic game by far, not Shadow.

You have a point. But yeah, that actually was my point--Shadow is ten times less shittier than Heroes, yet it gets more hate just because it's Shadow, whom all the 2-D fanboys loathe with a passion. :/

Was a fun rental, but I'd rather not buy it kthnx.

Hate Shadow for shitty gameplay, not because he's fucking SHADOW.

How ya doing, buddy?

That picture kicks ass and reminds me why I actually LIKE Sonic's post 1998 design.

The next gen Sonic soundtrack is too good for the game itself, sadly.

Makes me wish some of the 2-D Sonics/next good major Sonic gets a customizable soundtrack.

...yeah. Boxart scares me for some reason. Does the hedgehog think he can top Negi Springfield in the pimp factory? I THINK NOT.

And as for storylines, Sonic HAS had some plots (cutscenes in 3&K anyone?) and I actually like the new ones: they're just presented in such a cheesy manner that they're hard to like.

But then again Sonic has ALWAYS been cheesy to me. Guess it's part of his charm.

WELL JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T CARE, I HAVE OUR THE NEWS UPDATE

Accordin' to BlackArms off of gamefaqs, with PICTORIAL EVIDENCE:

Quote:
Games Master gave an exclusive preview of the game in their newest issue.

First of all, the game is 85% done right now.

The game will have 10 levels, 5 of which were named in the magazine-
Sand Oasis
Dinosaur Jungle
Evil Foundry
Levitated Ruin
Pirate Storm

Sonic has 100 new skills in this game. At the beginning you start out with a basic set of movements, you can earn more skills with EXP from playing the main game. With the new skills you can tweak sonic's handling to perfection. The skills can be assigned to one of four rings, each ring has a 500 point capacity. Each of the rings can hold a huge amount of skill sets allowing you to tailor sonic how you want which is essential for the challenges, as you'll need different handling each time. One of the moves is the soul meter which allows you to speed boost or slow down time, we've seen the speed bost in past videos but the slow down time makes the screen grey in a pic in the mag. The other moves tweak your handling, attack power, braking and jumping.

There are 40 multiplayer minigames.

Eacch stage has 10 missions, these include-
Beat the clock - Simple time trial
Stealth Attack - Get through the level without defeating a single enemy
Chain challenges - Collect rings without taking a hit
Rampage - Kill a certain amount of enemies
No Pearl - Get no charge for your soul meter
Special challenges unique to each stage

The controls are -
Tilt - Left/Right to steer. Back/Forward to accelerate/back-pedal
1- Cancel
2 - Jump
D-Pad up - Boost
D Pad down - Slow time
Flick forward to attack

Here's there review of the preview-

The +'s-
1. The depth to the handling and skill settings
2. Seems to have massive replay value
The -'s-
1. Some handling niggles
2. Some dodgy soundtrack and voice work

A massive step in the right direction for Sonic. A game that looks 3D, but is effectively a glorified 2D game - exactly what the series has been crying out for!

They're saying "just Sonic", but they said "just Sonic" for 360 too and we all see how that turned out :P

That was baseless fan assumption.

But I'm fairly sure this is Sonic's first true Solo Adventure since... Sonic CD.

Natch, I think the only major Sonic with a poor soundtrack was Heroes. Shadow, if you push it.

Heroes was a fanbase pandering, and 3-D Sonic has never quite recovered since.

2-D Sonic, on the other hand, has always been excellent. See Advance 3/Rush for proof.

Extended trailer.

It looks like I'll have to retract my statement about the soundtrack, the main theme is awful. I did like the music in the first link I posted though.

Also Shadow shows up in multiplayer. Looks like the game is doomed...

Once again: GREATEST GAME!!!!

Who's that purple-haired demonic fag? Is that the "dark genie"? Oh god.

This is shaping up to be as stellar as the last game. Chances are the end result will be another super-repetitive shit-on-a-disc title that this time around can't decide whether to ripoff Mario Party or Prince of Persia.
If this winds up decent I'm going to weep for your soul.

3-D Sonic has sucked since SA2. Yes.

But I like the part where we ignore their 2-D offerings, which are far and away are at least "decent".

I don't really care enough to get depressed over Sonic Team's idiocy--their 2-D games are good and Sonic's not the only mascot who has problems in 3-D but still has good 2-D (looks at Megaman and Castlevania).

If it's anything depressing about Sonic, it's the fans. They're fucking terrible. On the one hand we have the 3-D fanboys who buy the crap and call it good. Then we have the GOD FUCKING AWFUL 2-D fanboys who blame the fall of the Dreamcast on the Sonic Adventures and are entirely convinced that Sonic died in 1994. Don't even get me started on the constant wars and all the political, completely childish and exaggerated hate of Shadow.

See, I can be bitter too!

You didn't like the levels of Advance 3?

Shame. I thought the level themes and design were the best of the bunch. Chaos Angel and Ocean Base especially so.

In Sonic Advance 3, getting the special stages is a bit more long winded--you need to find ten(10) Chao in each Zone (go into the garden to see the spread for each level). Once you collect each one you don't need to do it again. Ever. (Unless you reset all data). Once you have all of them, go through the stage and collect the key (easy to find, often right in the middle of the path) and complete the stage without dying. Find the spring in the zone entryway and BAM, special stage access. If you phail, simply collect another key.

Advance 2 felt worse than 1 and 3 because the levels felt all alike--the only difference was palette design! And the bosses were irritating the first time but then became too easy for subsequent plays.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

A verdict is in. ONM gives it an 81%.

They say that this game has some frustrating moments as well as the minigames being too short. This sounds like this could be the legitimately hardest Sonic game ever made. Sonic 2 GG/MS hard.

The only thing that might discount this review is the fact that they gave Red Steel a 91%... but then again they admitted they were blatant dissenters with that score because they actually liked the controls.

We'll see how the game plays out with IGN and GS.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Places like 4chan and Gfaqs are flaming it to death for that score. Considering that the main reason the score crashed because it was too hard... huh.

...wait a second, why are you even still here? You heard the verdict. If Sonic still ain't your cup of tea then dripping sarcasm does nothing more for this thread.

Oh, and evilboris, there aren't any camera problems, and learning the controls is the only real "control problem" of the game.

I've waited to hear a Sonic game described as "hard" without "camera problems and shitty controls" for years now.

So did anyone actually get this game?

I did. Controls are a bit tricky to master, but otherwise a fun game. Just got to Levitated Ruins. It's amazing.

Music is awful, though seven songs are on my hard drive. Three are so bad they're good and four are decent. Everything else = ear bleed.
