Sonic the Hedgehog. Underappreciated because his side character's games and his spin-offs suck. But Sonic rules any and all video game characters BECAUSE HE CAN.
Sora is also awesome. Because no one can look more badass with a giant key. Worst video game character goes to Crash Bandicoot. He's lame. And annoying. Jam it back in, in the dark.
