Hey, I've got a great idea: Why don't we think of broad, nebulous topics, which have been a subject of debate since recorded history and attempt to come to some meaningful conclusion by cyclical argumentation on an internet forum.
Oh, by the way, I think there needs to be somekind of definition of "human nature" if you're going to even bother arguing about whether it's good, evil, neutral, purple, et cetera. Because it seems to me that most of you are confusing learned, thoughtful, deliberated action/decision making with instinctual behavior. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() Posting without content since 2002.

Materialism does push people to demand of themselves, and others, more than what anyone rightfully needs.
Which basically is the driving force and sole motivation of the oligarchy, thirst for power/control so as to continue their materialistic fervor. I don't see how you can really argue that it isn't true. Then again, I'm not equating democracy/free-market capitalism to materialism. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() Posting without content since 2002. |
