[Movie] Battlestar Galactica

Good GODS.

I just watched the premiere for S3... and wow, they're still not letting down with the plot twists and cliffhanger endings. I love it. This premiere surely didn't disappoint.

...But... holy fuck, did Lee Adama ever get FAT. I'm hoping that's just his character, and not actually Jamie Bamber. Heh.

Yeah, I thought the current season didn't have much direction to go after leaving New Caprica [aside from finding Earth], but they proved me once again. Sticking Baltar on the Cylon Baseship, and the introduction of the Cylon virus... Totally awesome. I hope they continue to please the crowd through the entire season.

Also-- Giving Sharon the callsign 'Athena'? Best move ever. I love it.

And Battlestar Galactica strikes again.

Just watched last night's new episode, and... sweet merciful Zeus, they're still not dissapointing. Well, with one small exception: the elimination of a character... I wish they didn't have to do that. And near the beginning, when Sharon 'died'... that was deep. Aside from that, though... I totally called the Starbuck connection. I was going through old screenshots I'd made the other day, cleaning up some of my folders, and came across this:

That's a screenshot from episode 2.02, when Starbuck and Helo are at the apartment on Old Caprica. I don't know what it's going to lead into, though... Looks promising, whatever the case may be. I wonder who the final five are? And I wonder what's going to happen to Gaius?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm kind of wondering what Baltar whispered to Gaeta in the cell. For a few minutes after that, I was thinking something along the lines of "HOLYCRAP Gaeta is a Cylon!"... But now I'm not so sure. Makes me wonder, because when Deanna saw the Final Five, she said 'You... I'm so sorry...' which means she must've met him/her before, right? Hmm.

Also... the scene with all the kids around the goo-pool with Baltar... I wonder if those children were actually 'young' representations of the 12 Cylon models? Mainly because there was one there that had an eyepatch just like Tigh.

That's the glory of this show though, they keep you guessing until the very end. On top of that, they make you believe one thing [in this case--they're probably trying to string us along to think that it's going to be Starbuck], and then they'll throw you for a loop right at the last minute. Probably on the season finale. XD

So yeah, they'll probably show us that the Cylon is like... Helo. And he had a baby with Sharon. TWO CYLONS HAD A BABY DUN DUN DUN.

On the topic of the song that plays through the last ten minutes or so... I don't suppose anyone has ripped the song, or has an mp3 [or other audio format] of this version of the song yet, do they? I really liked it, and don't think I want to wait until summer when the soundtrack comes out.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'm also curious about what they're going to find if/when they reach Earth. The point above about the Final Five being resurrected on Earth is an interesting one, but then... Where would Starbuck have gotten her Viper?

Anyway, I think one of 4 things could happen when they reach Earth:

Scenario A: They find an 'Alternate Universe' Earth, where the 13th Colony has settled and grown to a population of a few million, somewhere on the planet. They [presumably] have the same type of technologies as the other 12 colonies, maybe even more advanced.

Scenario B: They find an 'Alternate Universe' Earth, where there is no human life. Presumably, the 13th Colony has either died off, or left clues to their possible 'new location'. [Not very likely, in my eyes, but still a possibility if they do continue past the fourth season.]

Scenario C: They find Earth, exactly as it is today--poplulated with 6-7 billion people, but they still hold the beliefs of the original colonies: the Gods, and such.

Scenario D: They find OUR Earth, exactly as it is in real life--by people who have no idea what the '13th Colony' is, and would freak out when a bunch of humans and human-robots suddenly dropped out of the sky.

Just a few points to ponder. I personally like Scenario D, but that would set up the entire series for a cliffhanger ending, assuming that season 4 is indeed the last.

About the S3 soundtrack, it's slotted for Summer 2007. No exact date yet, that I know of. [If you're wondering, the cover of 'All Along the Watchtower' WILL be on it.]

I don't know if it's just me, but... they kept panning to one woman in the 'audience' during the trial. When they gave the verdict, they had one particularly good shot:

Anyway, when I saw that, I did a double take, and actually had to rewind, and pause on the frame for a few seconds. Why? She looks a lot like Deanna, #3.

Or maybe it is just me.

That's what I figured, but it still made me stop and look again.

Then again, who knows? Maybe she is a #3, but changed her hair and such so as not to be noticed.

I totally called it as soon as the episode started. I'm not sure what it was... but she looked different. Did they have to replace her actress or something? Either way, that was sort of a big hint in the direction of where they were taking the episode. And loved it.

And Baltar...

The whole Baltar as a religious entity sort of irks me, but I'm sure they'll pull something off by the end of the season to make it completely legitimate. And good. Or something. I hope.

I think that part of the episode, she wasn't actually having the vision. I think they were just making a comparison, showing that what she saw was coming true. Or something. Maybe.

I'm not entirely sure they 'forgot'. When D'Anna first spoke to Roslin after the big Hub battle, she said 'Four. Four are in the fleet.'

...Thinking that over, was she bullshitting Roslin, or was she saying the last Cylon is somewhere else? [ie Earth, with the Cylons, somewhere else?]

Well, as much as I'd like to see someone other than Ellen as the fifth, the producers have confirmed that she is, in fact, the final Cylon. There's got to be some kind of twist with her, though. It just wouldn't be BSG without it. Heh.

In the preview for No Exit though, when we see Ellen in the tank, it almost looks like D'Anna, with the darker hair and all.
