I'm surprised why Bishop hasnt made comment to this thread yet. As far as I know, he's a big fan of Otani, and his post made me curious to listen this wonderful album.
At first glance, I thought this album as tyoe of ambient albums that featured in most movie scores. I had prejudice that this album wont feature a lot of melodious tracks since Kow Otani purposely compose ambient musics for the game purpose.
But it appears I'm wrong. This album is very beautiful, melodious and brilliant, even though there are no memorable tracks, I really enjoy the overall of this album. Everytime I listen it and close my eyes, I feel like listening a grandiose epic that is written into form of instrumental music. The sensation is comparable when I listen Kentarou Haneda's epic Suite Wizardry V.
The instruments used in this album also varied, like flute, orchestra, and harps that make this album even closer to Celtic-ambience. I compare this album with Heroes Might and Magic IV by Rob King and Paul Romero.
I really like this album, if you remove the battle and fast-paced music, it's really relaxing and could lull you enough to deep slumber. Highly recommendedn and shouldnt be missed by VGM fans, especially those who like Celtic music.
5/5
Jam it back in, in the dark.
