As far as I can tell, the only real point of the "barless" women's bike is to prevent scandalous upskirt shots when you swing your leg over it to get on. I guess if you're riding arounnd in a skirt or dress that might be a concern, but personally I'd like to have something to keep me from dropping towards the ground should I crash and slide forward off the seat, even if that something is going to impact my groin.
