College Trouble (taking something you want to be or something you're good at)

I've been wanting to post this for a long time but I would always end up think my post was useless. Well, I have a week to make up my mind. I am currently in my 2nd term of freshmen in college. I got in this college with the course, Bachelor in Science - Computer Science.

My first term was a complete disaster. I barely passed my Computer Science Algebra and Basic Computer Concepts. I failed Computer Programming 1. I wasn't able to finish the big project (which was a domino game made in C). I am retaking Computer Programming 1 again but with a different teacher (BTW this other teacher is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better). My plan was to make it to Software Tech probably specializing in AI. I dunno if I was aiming for something possible or aiming for the unreachable.

Now I am having second thoughts. My school doesn't have any art courses, so I thought of shifting to the sister school. This school has a special course called Bachelor of Arts - Multimedia Arts. Its the only school in my country that has it. It was supposed to be my first choice when I was in senior year, but I thought back then that it was too specific. I like the arts. Music is also one of my forte (my dream is to make a band!!!).

The other thing I take into consideration is my parents. They are paying for my college (its impossible for me to pay it myself). I don't want to retake and retake so many subjects.

My mom and dad had a small argument one time. Whether you have to be good at what you do to enjoy it OR you just like to do it (whether or not your good or bad at it). I am bad at math..actually I am bad at logic. In a test I took in school, my score in decreasing order was...clerical, spacial, body then logic. My clerical and spacial were equal..I think

I am still not sure whether to shift or not!!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Thanks guys. You're advice is greatly appreciated. I was just wondering though, are you guys all working or still in college?

Actually my parents don't go with any side. It's both a good thing and a bad thing really.

Oh yeah, I wasn't able to put somethng it on my first post. I want to be in the game industry. There aren't any big game companies here so I plan to work a bit before I go to another country. I dunno if its applicable but I always wanted to go to different countries...but I think you can get to different other countries with almost any job.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

@mortis: That is just the thing, I've been doing alright now in Computer Programming now. I also do most of my coding in a notebook (paper notebook). The thing is the sister school is known for their easy entrance exam. Actually I also thought about being a programmer. My brother is also majors in ComSci. He needed to retake some subjects but he still pushed through. One thing I don't like about his job is being in a desk and on a computer all day.

@STRIGON-2: Psychology is a pretty interesting subject!!

That was why I picked ComSci. It was the closest academic course to the job I wanted. It still feels odd. From an academic then switching to an arts course...Everytime I hold the papers for transfer..that is what goes on in my head.

That is one of my other problems...You see I don't excel in any (except math). To tell the truth I used to be good at math (imagine my dad reaction when I failed math for the first time..btw my dad is a physics professor). Drawing, photography, writing and singing are the things I can say I have a knack for. Singing would be the highest if it was ranked (although I have a weak ear for half steps...specially in the lower notes). I do like to make somethings out of the ordinary.
Actually in art..as long as it has a deadline, its stressing. If it doesn't, its relaxing.

Just a curious...
Would an hardcore progamming course give me more advatage than an multimedia arts, in terms of getting a job in the gaming industry???
I am thinking I need to build up credentials first...

Again thanks guys...I'll be finishing my application for transfer today. I just need to do the clearance.
Right now all freshmen have no majors. We are blocked at the first term. In 2nd term, we fix our scheds but if you don't pass a certain subject you most probably won't be blocked. I think there is 4 branches..Software Tech, Instructional, Network and Systems Engineering.

@RAZGRIZ-2: Specialization...I would likely either fall in storyboard or character design hehe

I was wondering....The school I am about to move into has this....reputation. I dunno but it just unnerves me a bit. I asked two friends in that school. One said it was fun...but the other said that it was..like highschool. I dunno if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

You might be wondering why until now I haven't finished my shifting...Its because there was a technical problem with my papers.

I was speaking idiomatically.
