This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I should have never introduced that shitty emoticon to these boards. I'd remove it if I could. =/
Well whatever, next time try to add a bit more content when you bump a thread. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Last I heard most people liked Smash Bros for not being another Street Fighter combo list clone. You know, something you can pick up and play any character and not have to memorize long lists with combos that apply only to specific characters.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
I can tell you that supers will not be pulled off using button combinations. That would be unfair to new players. It will most likely be one of the buttons assigned as jump, either x or y. And that's if it doesn't automatically make you do a super once your character has grabbed the Smash Bros. logo super item.
I'm sure they could find other ways of doing it as well but those are the two that come to mind. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
What, like pressing L and R at the same time to set off a special? I do that all the time when I want to do rolls or shield. That could be set off too easily. What are you proposing?
How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeah, I would have found some of the stages more fun or rather my friends would have if you could turn off environmentals.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Rainbow Cruise and Pokemon floats are good examples of platforming levels done right imo. I think Icicle Mountain just had you jumping up too often to really do any fighting. I've had plenty of memorable fights on Rainbow Cruise and Pokemon floats though.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
That's a nice idea. There better be jetpacks flying around too. There was that one island stage where you had to land on targets. A few of those could pass by as platforms every now and then.
Hell, you could use the whole Pilotwings 64 USA stage at random locations to keep things interesting. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'd rather have jumping through hoops enable a different path for the fighting to take or something. That's much better than giving health back to you. Although if it increases items to appear on screen then that's not too terrible. Those are always up for grabs.

There was more focus on racing skill and precision and timing with items in the original Super Mario Kart. If you knew the layout and how to drive it you could actually lap players. That rarely happens in Mario Kart these days and is all a focus on item luck and powersliding. I don't consider snaking legit racing.
Back on topic, a good Smash Bros. imo plays any player, any stage, any circumstance and has a good time. People who just do no items, Final Destination all day are really missing the point. I guess you can enjoy the game that way but good god how dull. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I'll agree they could have done a better Retro Cup. In fact I bet it wouldn't have been all that difficult to put all the Retro tracks into the game but they didn't; but a mix and match setup was fairly good. I really hope they make a second Mario Kart for DS and fix some of the big complaints people are having with even more retro tracks. And Baby Park is in my opinion one of the best tracks from the mostly dull Double Dash. It's very quick and hectic. I think that stage is the only one I find the ridiculous weapon use to be amusing b/c there are explosions and traps that can be set everywhere. Seriously, I think they need to have weapons assigned specifically for each level. A lot of those stages don't deserve players to have that many blue shells and crazy items. Lower the chances like in MK64. That game had a good balance for weapons.

RAB, the original Super Mario Kart was like that. You had to be reaaaaaally far behind in order to get a star or a lightning bolt. Those items were primarily used to kill the slower cpu drivers in front of you and to catch up and use your racing skill to get back to the top. Weapon advantage has completely changed since then. Back then it was mostly about driving, setting up traps, and having a constant defense and offense with red and green turtle shells. It was about knowing the layout, knowing your opponent, and about racing. Today weapons in Mario Kart have way too much focus and benefit as opposed to knowing the course and driving it with skill. I yearn for a Mario Kart that gives you the options to set weapons back to the way they are supposed to be at.

Probably for short mini games or something and menus. Why not.

Well, the Super Monkey Ball franchise was a damn near exclusive franchise for the Gamecube. If I think Sega and Nintendo and new franchise I think of that series. But those characters would be rather meh for Smash Bros.

Unconfirmed. It's just speculation. I heard that some people had a radio show with Sakurai or something where he was mumbling snippets and thoughts of what he was thinking on doing but really nothing confirmed yet.

Confirmed removal of Luigi, Ganondorf, Peach, and Falco though. Facts! Seriously, why should you even care? Just wait for official word. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Nov 3rd in Sweden, home of the rising sun. Chart it down, dawg.

Well, it was nice to see some of the gameplay and all but I wish they had revealed more characters beyond Fox. Really digging the new stages though. Very polished. Yoshi's Island is <3.

Dead Acclaim is deeeeeeeeaaaaaad.

Yes. Yes it does. I will be VERY sad if it doesn't have any fuzzies.

Josh, I'm pretty sure one of the main meanings of "sora" is "sky". It's not like the Kingdom Hearts character owns the name or invented it or something. It's just a word.

The only Square character that makes sense at all or has a chance for that matter is Geno from Super Mario RPG. Any other suggestions are ludicrous.
Most amazing jew boots |
That's not assuming. That's fact. They had Geno as a cameo in Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and had to credit Square for it.

What? The lol what stupid 3rd party characters do we want bit? Yeah, that's all they ever really talk about. It was like that before the game was even first talked about at E3 2005 so you really shouldn't be all that surprised.
Vampiro, Snake has been on Nintendo consoles before. FF7 on the other hand never was. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Good.
