Q seems to have a newfound respect for Ness after finally getting around to playin Earthbound. =)
I'm glad that the Ice Climbers are coming back. They were fun. I wonder what their final smash will be. =o This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Well there is always the possibility of a Wind Waker Link to replace Young Link. I think that and a completely cell shaded stage that changes the style (like Mr. Game & Watch's stage) for every character would be very neat.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Anything? Really? What is the logic behind that?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
I'm going to guess that to make up for no stats for random online matches (which honestly makes sense considering there are so many things that could go wrong) will be online tournaments that will hopefully be monitored somehow but of course not by tourneyfag rules unless it's being held by tourneyfags. I think tournament codes would be a very cool thing to implement into the game for such purposes. 1 code. Well, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.
Additional Spam: You know it would have been nice if they had let you type in your friend code in one of the taunt fields for random online play. But oh no policy GOTTA PROTECT DA CHILLIN. Additional Spam: Oh and if I'm reading this right it seems that the game will use your Wii Friend Codes just like Metroid Prime 3 does. I really hope that's the case. I really do. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
You know, one thing I don't like about punishing people for quiting on matches is that PERHAPS they actually have a legitimate reason to quit a match like getting called on by an impatient parent to carry in groceries or some other chore, diarrhea, or a phone call. I mean I still laugh at the idea of someone getting upset over a tarnished record but hey over 3 years of playing and having lots of phone calls and/or upset stomaches during matches that number could build up and if people were to somehow look at that and decide not to play with you that seems a bit unfair don't you think? It's called life and shit sometimes happens.
Also no online stats is a good thing since if people aren't playing to have the best record ever then they are playing for the correct reason which is to have fun. People will still probably quit from matches if they are getting uber raped or something like that but at least noone will care. Next player please. And unfortunately it seems the game will be using its own Friend Codes and not the Wii system code like Metroid Prime 3. MP3 uses the Wii24Connect system like the bulletin board and what not. Games where you just exchange some things but not actual online play can use Wii24Connect. Sure Nintendo could have used parental controls but since that actively involves a parent being responsible for what their child does it's just not good enough since parents would rather blame videogames instead of their own bad parenting. With Friend Codes you actually know this friend. With random play there is no communication or exchange of information since these random people aren't your friends. Yes it sucks but it's a very smart and easy way for Nintendo to cover their asses from any backbiting parents. It would have been nice to exchange friend codes with people you meet over random play if both parties consent but there lies the problem. If any of the party is not an adult it won't work in Nintendo's point of view. Nintendo could solve this with an online passport if you will. All players must have a passport in order to play online. On this passport will be date of birth, name, age, address, and a parent will also have to have a passport with a password that they'll enter to allow their child to have an account. None of this information would be public online but would be used to send letters or emails to the parent to show what games their kid has been playing, how long, and who they've added to their friend's list, etc. every week (for email) or month (for snailmail) or they can log in online to check this shit out in realtime for themselves. PROBLEM IS while this would be safe and secure and what not IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASS for almost all parties involved. Also what if someone were to fake their information or fake a credit card or whatever verification device? I'm sure a lot of people would be having issues with the Big MaN for some reason or other. So from Nintendo's point of view their Friend Codes make sense. I'm sure they debated long on this and came to this conclusion. It sucks but if you think of it like this it makes sense. FELIPE NO |
R.O.B squad is gonna be so awesome. =D
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Oh god, I can't wait for the Mudkips announcement. That's gonna be a few laughs. ='D
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Oh god, NoA is never going to live it down if they don't bring Mother 3 over here in some form now. WHO IS DAT BLONDE KID? OH WHAT?
I'm very certain Ness is still in the game. The original crew is a Smash staple. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Sakurai only said that characters from Melee might not return. I'm confident that anyone from the original cast will be returning. I'm sure Lucas will be similar to Ness but different enough to stand his own - certainly not a clone like Falco, Dr. Mario, Young Link, and Marth/Roy (whichever you didn't prefer). Besides what would be the point of just dressing up Ness's fighting moves in a new model and ditching him? I think Sakurai has got this handled.
Most amazing jew boots |
OTHERWISE Lucas is different enough to not be a clone and Ness is still in the game because Sakurai has said that the original crew will not be given the boot. These are the only two possibilities that I see at this time. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Fuck yes! Pixel trophies you are the best assist trophies ever! =DDDD
Most amazing jew boots |
Yeah, that thought occurred to me as well. Glad I'm not the only one. =)

This is excellent news. However, I would greatly appreciate an online co-op as well. Not all of us are blessed with gaming friends at the ready as most of mine are busy in college. I'm sure I'll have a blast over break with this feature though.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, it's probably because it's filled with Japanese robot babel. I have no idea if they'll localize that particular song or pull a Katamari Damacy.
Here's hoping for Ashley as a playable character. Wario has his own emblem so I'd hope that they'd include more than just one character and Ashley should be interesting enough to be a playable character (and more female characters the better). I just hope she has a cute voice as usual as opposed to this high energy American singer. That isn't Ashley singing to me but I do like the song. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Ahahaha best thread title rename ever. For a minute I thought one of the admins was being a big joker and banned me from the Smash thread. ='D
So yeah Sonic looks surprisingly like he'll control well. I did not expect that. I mean I knew they could make him workable but not to this extent. He may very well be the best controlled Sonic EVER. The delay only hits hard for me because Nintendo actually made a release date promise and I can't ever remember them breaking a concrete date promise before but Brawl is completely worth it. I just hope it's out late December at most but really I want them to release it when they feel it's finished. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Really, who is to say that'll be the only Sonic song? I'm betting there will be at the very least three Sonic songs.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
And feeling right in those clothes. That's for sure.
Oh and I've learned that there will also be online co-op so my co-op lonely dreams aren't dashed. I will have to play through the game with some of you guys. =) How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeah, I really want Game & Watch back too. However, I wonder if they'll be adding Mii functionality to this. They did to Mario & Sonic at the Summer Olympics. It would be pretty funny to play as my Ackbar. =))))
I was speaking idiomatically. |
There seem to be quite a good number of playable characters missing from that screen. Zelda is missing probably because they don't want to reveal if she changes into Sheik or not. Kirby is missing probably because they aren't finished with his copy moves/costumes (like for the newly added Sonic). Lucas is missing to leave the mystery if he's replacing Ness or not (he isn't). Pokemon Trainer is missing probably because they aren't finished with how he moves around in the background for all levels. Wario, Snake, and Ice Climbers are probably only missing because of demo/space purposes. It's obviously not final because it's not logically sorted. Diddy would be next to Donkey Kong and Peach would be close to Mario, etc. Looks nice, though. =)
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
It was nice to see a Melee demo character selection screen in that spoiler though. Brings back nice memories of following it those years ago. =) FELIPE NO |
I think he meant in regards to 3rd party characters. I can agree with that. Besides Megaman what other iconic videogame character has a memorable series with bosses and characters that also have been on Nintendo systems like Sonic, Snake, and Megaman? Sega and Konami are represented. That leaves Capcom with its obvious choice. Really, what does Square-Enix have that represents them? Really, how generic would a chocobo, a moogle, or a slime be. Bomberman is an alright candidate for Hudson but I really wonder what the character has to offer in terms of fighting (then again I did feel similarly about Sonic). Namco has first choice of Pac-Man (who has appeared with Mario before in the Mario Kart arcade game) and perhaps Klonoa (had a GBA game). Let's see Natsume has Harvest Moon so a farmer I guess or perhaps a Pocky & Rocky duo (if they still have that license). Another duo could be Bub and Bob from Taito or hell maybe a Space Invader if you want to go far back enough. Really, those are the semi viable options left and I'm pretty doubtful on a bunch of them.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
See that's the huge problem with Square. All their interesting series are crumbling and covered with dust. Geno was a popular choice among Japanese suggestions and while that sort of works I'm still not sure if I agree in the whole representation bit. Geno would be fucking rad to play as no doubt about it but I'm thinking along the lines of Square-Enix. As much as I hate it, Sora (had that GBA game) probably is their best bet and even works well considering he's the by product of a cross over already. Just replace the Mickey Mouse icons on him with Mushrooms or smash logos and be on your way - that is if Square-Enix completely own the character or Disney isn't a dick. Still, I dunno. I definitely prefer Geno to Sora but I'm really trying hard to figure out a good Square-Enix representative.

![]() As hilaarious as Q*Bert would be Gottlieb hasn't made games in years and as far as the gaming industry is concerned they and Q*Bert are pretty dead. Not gonna happen. But hey have your vote. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
So 3 AM EST is Japan Time, eh? I was just there a few minutes ago. Cool.
Yeah, so the spring looks like it could be really fun. How does that work when he does B-Up while mid-air though? He looks like he could be tricky to control but man does he capture that speed we all know him for. I just hope he isn't broken because of that. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
