![]() So yeah, any way I split it there are only 4 (or 8 considering they're 2 half episodes put together) episodes left. That means 2 episodes each on Tuesday and Thursday or if we go with the 3 episodes of 2 series a night thing I've been talking about then 3 on Tuesday and the final episode on Thursday which in that particular schedule leave a two episode gap. It's a shame it's such a short series but that's all there is available, period; just 24 short episodes, folks. Decide how you wish to watch it but we have a gap to fill. I'd prefer to go with a light-hearted comedy or well anything comedy really. First shows that come to mind are Seto no Hanayome, Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu, and Azumanga Daioh. Any other suggestions? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Alright, I've decided that I'm going to change how things are run. The broadcast will still be 8 PM EST Tuesday and Thursday for six episodes worth of time (so basically ending by 10:30 PM EST), but I'll be adding a third broadcast on the weekend. Tuesday and Thursday will have two shows three episodes each and the weekend broadcast will be six episodes of a third show not shown on Tuesday and Thursday. The weekend broadcast will preferably be on Saturday but if I'm busy that day then it will be done on Friday or Sunday.
I've decided to have Azumanga Daioh fill Ebichu's time-slot. Speaking of here's what to look forward to this week according to the new changes. Tuesday (tonight) Princess Tutu (9-11) Oruchuban Ebichu (17-22) Thursday Princess Tutu (12-14) Oruchuban Ebichu (23,24) Azumanga Daioh (1,2) Weekend (still deliberating which day) Irresponsible Captain Tylor (9-14) As you can see, on Thursday we will be transitioning from Ebichu to Azumanga Daioh. This works well since Ebichu will only have one final episode and Azu will have two episodes following it. I hope you all stick around. Azumanga Daioh is a wonderful series that a few of you have not seen yet and I imagine for those of you that have it's been quite a while so it will probably seem fresh again. Another thing to note: I will be turning the archive off during broadcast hours. I'm not yet sure if people accessing the archives during the broadcast last Thursday is to blame for the choppiness but just to make sure I'll be making the archive unavailable during the broadcast tonight. The archive will be turned on shorty after the broadcast is over. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Alright the fifth broadcast is available in the archives. I'm gonna have to redo this one because that weird video lagging slightly behind the audio was also in the recording. I'm not sure why that happened. At least it wasn't choppy. However the choppiness didn't carry over to the recording last week. Weird.
Oh but I think tonight's two series broadcast was a success. Eight people stayed to the very end. <3<3<3 I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Alright tonight should be pretty awesome. We'll be moving towards the halfway point of Princess Tutu which should be epic as hell, then it's the final episode of Ebichu, and then we'll be starting up Azumanga Daioh.
I've actually have two version of Azumanga Daioh (three if you count the official dvds but those would be inconvenient to use) and I'm not quite sure which to use. I'm quite partial to the fansubs that came out years ago. The first 10 fansubs are redone DVD rips using subtitles from the collaboration of NLA, Ishin, & A-F which would then go on to form the fansub group known as Triad. After episode 10 the video quality lowers a bit but it's still NLA, Ishin, & A-F at the helm and I really enjoy their translation. The other version is a dvd rip with subtitles by KAA. While appreciate the effort KAA puts forth I find their subtitles harder to read. Notably they use a lot of pink text and if you've ever watched Azu before you know that pink text on what is going to be mostly pink background (be it actual background or students wearing pink uniforms filling up most of the screen) isn't going to fair very well. The video quality is quite clearly better though but it's not like the fansubs are bad at all and more importantly the fansub subtitles are much easier to read. Fansubs by NLA, Ishin, & A-F for Azu: + easier to read + biased: better writing style, word flow + translation notes intro - deni loves these - slightly less quality video - translation perhaps not quite as accurate - possibly less accurate translation but I never had any serious qualms with it DVD rip/resubtitle by KAA for Azu: + best video quality + possibly more accurate translation + translation notes a plenty during the show - subtitles are harder to read - biased: word flow and writing style seems to take a hit - translation notes during the show are hard to read So yeah, that said I'm leaning towards the original fansubs. I realize I'm biased so please let me know what you'd like. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Shorty, I'll have to be doing some experiments. I'm considering dropping livestream and switching to ustream. Suffice to say last night's broadcast recording is pretty much the worst one yet. I am not happy. I'll have the broadcast archive available eventually.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Broadcast 6 is in the archive now. Procaster now only supports h264 which is a bummer for me because however it saves it is really hard to edit with now. I'll be looking into that some more. In the meantime the broadcasts might have a little extra at the beginning and end showing my desktop.
But more importantly I will be starting the weekend broadcast in 30 minutes. Six episodes of Tylor. I'm not sure how many folks will show up but I'm watching Tylor either way. Also I've updated the opening post accordingly. FELIPE NO |
Broadcast seven is available. Only Sim and Term showed up but that's understandable since it's the weekend and short notice and all. They stayed to the end which is wonderful. Anyway if you missed it you can catch up on Tylor all in one big ol' batch in the archive.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Starting tonight's broadcast. Come on in. 3 episodes of Tutu, 3 episodes of Azu.
Additional Spam: Well that was a disaster. Procaster went freaking psycho on me. Not sure where everyone was tonight. There were like four anonymous people in the stream and Tails and Radez for a little bit but that was it. I don't blame them though because the stream was pretty bad well actually after Radez came it was fine by then. I'm pretty confident that wowza media server has something to do with it. It's running on port 80 which procaster also uses. However I always stop the wowza service before starting procaster but I guess it's still using the same port for something in the background until it's completely shut down. I had no problems with the stream (besides h264 being ugly jpeg shit when there is too much movement on screen) once I turned wowza completely off. So short story - no broadcast archive for tonight. If you missed it you can catch it tomorrow when I try again. Additional Spam: Thanks to lurker I've revamped my code a bit. Wowza and Procaster seem to be playing nice now that I've changed Wowza's port. Hopefully tomorrow night's attempt will prove this configuration a success. Again <3<3<3 lurker~ Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I know a bunch of you weren't able to catch Tuesday's broadcast and since I wasn't able to get a good recording of that I still need to rebroadcast it for archival purposes. I'll either do it after tonight's show or tomorrow night. I wanted to do it last night but I got distracted by Minecraft.
Anyway show for tonight coming up in about 30 minutes. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm just having some bad luck with procaster. I decide to try the older version and it has these terrible connectivity issues while I broadcasted this weekend's Tylor. I'm gonna have to redo this one and last Tuesday as well. Hopefully lady luck will smile on me tomorrow. Sorry about not having the archive up to date this week.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Alright archives 8, 9, and 10 from last week are available now. Catch up on Tutu and Azumanga Daioh before tonight's broadcast if you can. Again I'm sorry about the huge delay.
While I still need to figure out a way to manipulate the h264 files that procaster saves to my computer for now I'll be using an older version of procaster that encodes using on2 vp6 which I find more appealing anyway. I will most likely turn off the archives during the broadcast as I had a few network issues while trying to use procaster, watch the stream on my laptop, run a minecraft server, and run wowza at the same time this weekend while recording Tylor. Not sure which part of that I'm not able to juggle but let's just say when I'm broadcasting that has highest priority and anything that gets in the way will get the axe during that time. I will be on vacation next week which means I probably will not broadcast next week (I'll post more on this when I have more details). This works well enough though considering Tutu and Tylor will be ending this week, buuuut I'll need replacement shows. I'm kind of leaning for Cowboy Bebop to replace either Tylor or Tutu (it's really a matter if you'd rather marathon it on the weekend or not) but I'm not sure what else I should get into the lineup. Additional Spam: Oh yeah and of course more Tutu and Azu tonight at 8 PM EST. Be there. Last week people were too busy or something. ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Alright last night's broadcast is available in the archive. Last night was pretty sparse. lurker was there the entire time which was pretty awesome and Tails and Deni came in for a bit. Last week's attendance wasn't that great, and the technical difficulties and the delay of archive broadcasts probably had something to do with that. If you can I'd highly recommend taking today and tomorrow to catch up in order to watch Thursday's finale for Princess Tutu. It's going to be fantastic. And of course the finale for Irresponsible Captain Tylor will be this weekend. Filming is Job 1!
Due to prior weekend plans I intend to show Tylor's finale on Friday night. I'll probably be far too busy Saturday night packing up for vacation. Speaking of, vacation will probably be a short one going to Wednesday which doesn't completely kill off the possibility of having a Thursday and weekend show next week. In the meantime I'd like to take suggestions on what you'd like as replacement shows for Tutu and Tylor. Like I said in the last post I'm leaning towards one of them being Cowboy Bebop as a few people have expressed interest in watching that already. Also might as well throw this one out. Now that I've pretty much managed to get through three shows how are you guys enjoying GFF Anime Club? Any suggestions? Any problems? I was speaking idiomatically. |
Yeah, on the old format people started leaving after Ebichu was over which was about about an hour and a half into the broadcast. Seemed to be a combination of people not really caring about tuning in for Tylor after that and it being time to sleep or that's enough of dese animows for tonight for me thanks. Currently it's like 2 hours and 15 to 30 minutes a night.
My main problem with reducing it from six episodes to four episodes per broadcast is that it'll take longer to get through a show, but if you guys would prefer that then I'm flexible. I'm still gonna go by only having two different series a night max though. You guys clearly couldn't handle three, so moving the third series to the weekend was a good idea. I just need to be more consistent when airing it and giving out notice. It's kind of strange running this show. It's three times a week and if I'm late it's usually only 30 minutes max but it's very different from doing Drink On. However I guess it really depends on the show and the willingness of the audience to stick around. I got like 10 people to watch all of Detroit Metal City after already being up very very late after Drink On was over. That was three hours. Key difference is that people were ready for Drink On and any staying up late fun times and also it was the weekend. I'm all for awesome marathons like that and if people would rather do big marathons on the weekend instead of this tri-weekly thing I'm okay with that too. Really all I'm looking for is commitment to whatever it is you guys want to do, but then again as long as I have awesome viewing buddies like you, packrat, Deni, and Tails I'm fine keeping it to a low crowd as long as you all are happy. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
<3 you guys~
Don't forget to catch up on Tutu for tonight's finale. Also again with the bringing up of the new shows that you wanna watch, yeah? FELIPE NO |
Kaiba sounds awesome actually.
Anyway gonna be late cuz of storms and horrible traffic. I may be starting the show at 9 PM because of this shit. ![]() I'll post again or in chat or both before I start the show. Gotta get folks in for the Tutu finale. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Sorry for being late tonight but I think it worked out pretty well starting later as more west coast folks were able to join in on the fun. In fact seven people showed up for Princess Tutu's farewell. I hope you all enjoyed it as it's one of my favorites. =)
I will be showing the last six episodes of Tylor tomorrow night if all things go well. Please join to see the captain at his finest. It'll be a whirlwind of emotions, despair, action, and last minute surprises to see the crew of the Soyokaze off to go boldly. Oh and tonight's broadcast is already up and available in case you missed it. I'd love to know what you thought of Tutu. <3 Jam it back in, in the dark. |
If I told you the broadcast of Tylor went without a hitch that would be a lie. Livestream took a dump about halfway into it so I'll need to rebroadcast for the archives.
Anyway, thanks for showing up, Deni and Dull. :spacesalute: Oh and some time I'll have to show the Tylor OVAs. I think I'll show Cowboy Bebop first unless you all would like more Tylor sooner rather than later. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Vacation was longer than expected. I'll do a rebroadcast of the last six episodes of Tylor sometime either tomorrow or Monday.
I haven't quite determined what to replace Tutu with. Kaiba seems interesting enough but I'm still open for suggestions. I'm pretty set for doing Cowboy Bebop on the weekend unless you'd prefer it in the weekday slot. It's been a week and if you guys have had any thoughts on how this should be better run or if you'd prefer Cowboy Bebop on the week days instead or well anything I'd really like you to voice your thoughts in this thread. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm afraid I don't follow.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Yeah, which kind of makes it amusing to show on a Saturday considering Adult Swim does that anyway. Still, it's been a while for me now and it seems that not everyone has seen it yet.
Most amazing jew boots |
In honor of Satoshi Kon we will be watching Paranoia Agent instead of Kaiba. May he rest in peace.
![]() Most amazing jew boots |
Yeah, I haven't seen it before either. Looking forward to the rest of this show. =)
As usual Azumanga Daioh was adorable. Thanks for sticking around with me, magi. I should have tonight's broadcast up later tonight or tomorrow morning depending upon me passing out or not. I'll try to rebroadcast Tylor's final six episodes tomorrow night for the archives. FELIPE NO |
Managed to rebroadcast Tylor remotely. It and last night's broadcast are now available in the archives. Enjoy. =)
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Tonight's broadcast is available. Not many people stuck around for much of it though.
![]() At least I had Deni and Dull around for a bit of Azumanga Daioh. Paranoia Agent was awesome as usual. I'm not entirely sure where they're really going with this but it sure is interesting to watch. Paranoia Agent and Azumanga Daioh will be ending next week. I'll be replacing Paranoia Agent with Kaiba but I'm not sure what should replace Azu. Something lighthearted or comedy would probably be best. Any ideas? =o Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Even the really shitty fansubs that I have of it? ='D
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
