I'm surprised that anyone else remembers the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon. I'm very afraid to watch the DVD's of that show...seeing it as an adult and realizing how horrible it was would probably destroy a lot of my childhood memories. Didn't they make up random names for the Koopalings, instead of using their actual names?
I don't find the Koopalings to be very inspiring villains, at least not in boss battles, but at least they had some variety in character design in Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World, and Super Mario World had...was it three completely different types of Koopaling boss battle? The only game with Bowser Jr. that I've played for more than an hour or so is New Super Mario Brothers, and I personally thought that fighting the same block of polygons, with only minor changes in attack patterns, got pretty boring around the third tower...that game had different bosses in the castles, but Bowser Jr. stayed almost the same for the whole game.
I really agree with AcerBandit's thoughts...neither group of enemies is very good. I honestly don't expect a great deal of plot development in a platformer, but it would be nice if Nintendo could at least include a bit more variety and originality, either with Bowser Jr. or the Koopalings.
