Well, that's a relief. Still, my rant on the previous post still stands. Even if its not halted, the games are gonna take god knows when to come out, since they don't even have a "coming in 2009 or 2010" statement, meaning they have no time frame whatsoever.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

From what I heard, the Japanese will get the PS3 FF XIII first, like they always have with every FF game. Then the game gets localised for the US/EU PS3 release, and THEN the 360 version is ported/developed.

In other words is the same deal we had with every FF or KH game, except by waiting a bit longer, US/EU people who only own a 360 can eventually get FF13 later without resorting to buy a PS3.

When I first heard the news I thought April Fool's day came early ( or late? ), but I am glad to see that Square realised the 360 is more successful so far in those regions. MGS4 made a boost in the PS3 sales, but I doubt its gigantic enough for Square to risk losing good profit if they didn't port the game to the 360. And it means more people can play this game without resorting to get a PS3, JUST for one or two games they want. Especially since Sony is not budging when it comes to more price cuts.

Pity that Versus is still exclusive to PS3, but I already got the console so it's not a big deal for me... But I know there will be people who so far still only own a 360 may get a little annoyed at that.

Now that FF XIII is on the 360 list, it looks like the 360 so far is the RPG console. Mistwalker games, Tri Ace games, Tales of Vesperia and now Square's biggest title has hopped on board.

Meaning I need to get a 360 of my own soon. Been playing my sister's Australian 360 for the past years.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

While this is big news Musharraf, its still doesn't overshadow the fact that there has been no new gameplay footage since the announcement of this title. And all the "new" footage we see in this trailer has already been played in front of JP fans monthes ago in one of Square's exclusive closed theaters in their events. While this is surprising and very welcoming news, I want to know how far they are in development of the actual game for the past 2 friggin years, not just pretty FMVs. When Blizzard announced Diablo 3, they had a 19 min uninteruppted gameplay footage ready to be viewed by the masses, reminding people that these are GAMES, not just a collection of pretty cinematics.

(Not that I don't appreciate pretty FMVs, as people may have noticed my new Avvie and Sig.)

And I get that it can be annoying to buy a PS3 just so you can get MGS4 and FFXIII, only to have one of them go multi on you. But there's no need for that much anger at Microsoft or Square when they have opened the doors for others to play FF too.

Not to mention if you jumped the gun and bought the PS3 at launch assuming that FFXIII is always gonna be exclusive, well, its really your own fault for getting the system that early and not have a wait and see approach, and of course, miss out on the first price drop, which any consumer knows it will happen in time. Don't get a system untill the game you REALLY want is actually out. MY PS3 was bought on the same day MGS4 came out, which netted me a better price due to it being 2nd hand and some other discounts here and there.

All this hostility and the constant console wars is annoying. So far all exclusitivity has done for people is to make everyone declare war on one another and force people who don't have the cash to buy several system so they can play all their favourite titles. This in my opinion, is a step in the right direction for the industry.

The PS3 version is still gonna come out first, and any delays will be Square's fault and not Microsoft's, since the 360 version won't be developed till the PS3 US/EU version is done.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

What are you going on about? It's been widely reported (and posted in this thread) that the PS3/360 versions will be available on the same day in NA/EU. The PS3 version will probably come out first in Japan, but then all that's left is to translate it, and convert it to work on the 360 hardware. Why wouldn't Square be working on that during the development process?
EDIT: Watched the English trailer again and noticed the words "At Launch". My bad.

Dammit Microsoft.

Though in retrospect, Square always took forever to localise their games that the delay probably won't even be noticable. I wouldn't be surprise that by the time most of the porting is done, the localisation, be it translations or voice work, probably still won't be finished.

And Forever Fantasy reports that its unlikely EU will have FF13 the same day as NA since there are other languages they need to translate.

http://www.forever-fantasy.net/modul...ticle&sid=1260

Also someone in an older post while I was checking for links claims that FFXIII is a Nomura game, which is not true. The Nomura directed game is Versus 13, which is still PS3 exclusive. Just because the man designed the characters doesn't mean its his game, the same way that Code Geass is not a CLAMP story just cause they did the character designs. If FFXIII ends up sucking as a game and the story, blame it on Motomu Toriyama who is directing and writing.

And another thing, what's wrong with multi disks? I remember in the old days of PS1, we got 4 disks for FF8 and 9. Unless it ends up making the game costs alot more expensive, which I doubt it, theres no need to be so against the idea.

I was speaking idiomatically.

While this is a little random and slight off topic, I just remembered another PS3 exclusive RPG that is NOT Versus 13 and like all FF13s, didn't have any news for ages.

White Knight Chronicles.

And that seems to be it when it comes to PS3 exclusive RPGs, unless someone can name more?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

That green... THING that appears out of the CD had better not be a Moogle...
That green creature is Carbuncle, a summon which has appeared many times in past FF games.

Carbuncles are green, have long ears like a bunny and always in every incarnation had a red gemstone on its foreheard. Though that Jester outfit is new....

As to why people bought a PS3 on launch with the sole intent of playing a game that comes out 3-4 years later... I say its overexcitement and impatience. Those people assume the PS3 is gonna rock and that FF13 is always gonna be exclusive, and decided waiting to see the situation isn't their style. And now they pay for it.

My PS3 wasn't purchased till the day MGS4 came out, and I currently have not bought my own 360 yet because I knew some better ones with new motherboards or chips are coming out soon. I waited and didn't jump the gun over every shiny new game, and I think its gonna pay off better than the people who spend $600 on a PS3 just got FF13, and the 360 owners who now have to sit and wait for monthes to get their Red Ringed console back. A little patience and research means you save alot of your time and money.

But, most folks don't wanna research and never wanna wait.

If you bought a PS3 for various games like Mush did, instead of JUST that one or two games that wont come out for years and you are happy with your purchase, great. But my god I've been seeing so many whiners in other forums crying cause their precious PS3 lost its prized exclusive, and whining that they spend $600 on a console that is no longer worth it. Book fucking hoo to them for not wait and see.

FELIPE NO

Leaked Versus trailer

FF-XIII.net ~ Final Fantasy XIII - Versus XIII - Agito XIII

There was a shot in the trailer that had a Reno and Rude lookalike. One thing I won't deny, Nomura needs some fucking versatility.

Though I still like pretty FF FMV girls as my Icon...

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Demo will last for over 2 hours

Final Fantasy XIII demo to last over two hours :: PlayStation Universe (PSU)

Quote:
According to the upcoming DKS3713 issue of Famitsu magazine, the PlayStation 3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo will clock in at a longer running time than the CGI film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete.

Currently the original Advent Children film clocks in at a runtime of 101mins; however, the Blu-ray version of the movie will feature scenes that were either cut completely or not finished in time for the initial release, resulting in a significantly longer runtime.

Here is a list of other tidbits revealed from the three-page spread in Famitsu:

-The Final Fantasy XIII demo will be based from the opening section of the game.
-The demo will come on a separate disc rather than on the Advent Children Blu-ray.
- Mr. 33CM's real name is based off of weather as well.
- One of the female characters, refered to as 'Pigtails Girl', has been through some tough times.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is scheduled for release in March 2009
I gotta say, if the above is true, that would be awesome. The FF12 demo barely lasted 30 mins for me...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

No news on the pricing for Advent Children complete or FFXIII itself. There was just a release month (not really date) for AC Complete and news that the demo would be over 2 hours long.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I can never understand why retail stores have release dates for games that don't even have gameplay footage in any of their trailers yet.

I never believe those dates, but it's nice to learn why they had to be in there. Still, showing the date on their site is gonna do nothing but cause confusion among the morons out there that don't know most retail dates are fake in the beginning.

How ya doing, buddy?

Names revealed

VS XIII

-Prince: Noctis
-Blondy: Stella

XIII

-Pigtails Girl: Sarah or Senon

The voice actress for Lightning in Final Fantasy XIII is Watanabe Akino.

Also, all fucking trailer footage for both games was shown in the closed mega theater again.

Ya know what? Fuck this game. I am no longer gonna waste energy anticipating this game untill I see some real gamplay footage. Uninterrupted gameplay footage. Like the camcorder video for Star Ocean 4 demo.

XIII is done by the Kingdom Hearts team. Like them or not, it's not exactly going to be 100 percent conventional.
Just a small correction, VERSUS XIII is done by the KH team, not FFXIII. Versus is the one that's gonna have the KH style gameplay.

Original OST info is out.

Original Sound Version Blog Archive 5-Disc Final Fantasy XIII Limited Edition Soundtrack Announced

Quote:
The announcement we’ve all been waiting for. We talked about the game’s music in our review of the music featured in the demo earlier this year, and again when we reviewed the Square Enix Music Sampler Volume 4 CD, but now we have a massive 5-disc soundtrack to look forward to, courtesy of Masashi Hamauzu.

It turns out that only the limited edition will feature 5 discs, whereas the standard edition will contain 4. What’s on the fifth disc? Probably not much that any of us care about, as it’s planned to be a drama album. Still, the packaging looks pretty snazzy, and I can imagine it’ll be awesome if past limited edition releases are any indication. Also, the game will feature two vocal themes featuring the voice of Sayuri Sugawara. The albums are both due out on January 27, 2009, with the limited edition costing about $50 and the regular edition costing around $40. Start saving!

Are you at all surprised by the size of the Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack? Will you be picking this one up in January?
