Gym Battlers Open
Deadline to finish your matches: Monday, June 16th! ![]() So you want to play like a pokemon gym leader. Cool! You've come to the right place! There is one catch though. And that is your type selection, how that will be done is explained below. Current Sign Up Status: CLOSED Sign ups are closed! Tournament format: Round Robin Since this is a round robin tournament you are required to fight everyone for at least one round. First to three wins/draws ought to do it, that means a minimum of three actual battles per person before switch against a new player. So be sure to log down your victories and losses! And post about it back here.RULES:
How to Enter: Here's the interesting part. And the only fair method I could think of without going over board. To enter, post in this thread saying you want to play. "Maybe" and "I think" do not count as this next part is crucial to this tournament's success. Last poster will get this number:
I think that's all that needs to be said. Enter! Discuss and don't forget to pick my number poster #2 ![]() CURRENT PARTICIPANTS: (as of 12 Jun)
Jam it back in, in the dark.

Reason: updated player roster.

I just realized a tiny flaw with the type selection. Seeing that you guys don't know what type everyone else is using. And I do since I created the list. Would you be ok if I just reveal the selected types for each person? Do you care?
![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
The person below you wanting to play has to choose your number. So whenever he or she posts with that number is when I'll PM you your type. edit: also, yeah. The type listing is already complete. Right now I'm waiting on the participants to pick the numbers. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yes, preset lv.100 means everyone in the battle will be at lv.100 and have lv.100 stats. Even if the pokemon is actually lv.70. And the legendaries list essentially includes the following:
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Hmm I knew that fact would be brought up =p.
Ok, I'll let in Rotom (and Phione) since their overall stats are average at best. And their move pool is no better than most other pokemon. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Well you shouldn't look at a Pokemon's dual type as a secondary type. Like Water. It makes things unnecessarily complicated. Take Kabutops as an example. It's a Rock and Water type. It's weaknesses and strengths will be the same even if you said Kabutop's primary type is water instead of rock.
So, yes. You can pick that Pokemon as long as one of the dual type's elements matches your theme. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
You guys can have as much time as think you need. My weekday deadline is more of a guideline. I'd LIKE for everyone to be ready some time within the up coming work week but if you need more time then I'll give you more time.
Well if it'll help speed things up I suppose I can trade you what you need (hopefully it's not too hard to find since I lack a AR.) Your choice though! FELIPE NO |
Nah, no need for that stuff this time around. I trust you guys won't mess with your move pool once the tournament has started. We're just playing for fun, afterall.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Sent you a PM redcliff13 =o
Once that is confirmed I'll add you to the player roster. Also I think I'll close sign ups by the end of today (12am, -10hrs GMT.) Got to give the last player their type already =D edit: Also! If anyone has Pokemon Battle Revolution you are more than welcome to use that during the tournament (when possible of course!) Aside from Chaotic, Identity Crisis and myself does anyone else have that game? Jam it back in, in the dark.

Why yes, I didn't dig up those type icon gifs for nothing!
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Ok, sign ups are now closed and this tournament is ready to go.
Well, almost. Just waiting on radcliff13, if I don't hear from him by the end of today I'll just drop him from the tournament. Since this is a round robin tournament you are required to fight everyone for at least one round. First to three wins/draws ought to do it, that means a minimum of three actual battles per person before switch against a new player. So be sure to log down your victories and losses! And post about it back here. Also, Points Break Down: Win = 2 points Draw = 1 Point (Either when each player's final Pokemon is KO'd in the same turn or when both players are in a deadlock lasting more than 10 mins. For the latter~ it is at both player's discretion to accept the draw. Not a requirement.) Loss = 0 points Once all players have done their rounds points will be tallied and the top 4 will battle it out for first place. Mostly to see who is the clear winner. To advance in the top 4, all you have to do is battle the person with more points than you (4th -> 3rd, 2nd -> 1st. Winner of those matches will then battle each other once.) And one last thing. Any point ties that may effect placing in the top 4 will require a sudden death match (quick 3-on-3 battle.) Oh, almost forgot! mystery type listing!:

Though I wouldn't encourage that kind of gameplay for everyone. Just focus on your strengths! Or completely throw your opponents off by doing something out of the ordinary.

It depends how fast we are. If we're quick about it I could hold another one by the second week of June. From what I can tell if no one is held up with anything for two weeks straight, we could be done within a week and a half from now.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ah shit, that's right. I forgot about your meet. Hopefully it won't be a problem if you have a wifi usb adapter. Internet is everywhere these days.

Alright, time to ask. How's everyone doing? ANYONE ready yet? I'm close but I'm short on a couple key moves which I should have later today.
Additional Spam: Also, I need FCs from the following players: DarkMageOzzie Crash Landon radcliff13 Josiah The rest I found at GFwiki. I assume they still work. If not, post back here and say so! Most amazing jew boots

First, I need some information. What brand of wifi usb adapter did you get, exactly? And what OS are you using? WinXP x32 or x64? From what I gather the adapter will not work with 64bit OSes.
A few things you can also try: - Unplug the adapter, reboot and start the installation over. Do not plug in the adapter until told to do so. - If you feel it is a firewall issue you can disable it (go to Control Panel > Firewall) and see if your installation completes that way. If you have more than one active, well, you shouldn't running more than one anyway. So turn them off. As that causes all sorts of conflicts. - No idea if you're using a router but you may need to switch your home network address to something other than 192.168.1.0 (your adapter uses this, apparently.) If you have no idea what I'm talking about just PM me and I'll try to walk you through that. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
No!
I did mean first to three wins. Like Chaotic's SSBB tournament. So it is possible to have as many as 5 battles per person. But I get the feeling it won't be like that with a lot of players. Especially me ![]() Most amazing jew boots |
@Sousuke - *cough* Again, No
![]() It's more lengthy than that. You do have to meet every participant once. You are to battle against each of them at least three times, ie first to three wins (up to five if you're having crazy close matches.) Hence the point system and why you, the player, are required to keep track of your progress. Because that's a lot of info to track by myself. Things I would specifically like to know: - Wins - Losses - Draws - Total number of Pokemon you KO'ed - Total number of Pokemon you lost - Additional notes (A summary, I suppose. But that isn't required.) I hope I'm not confusing anyone ![]() If I am, ask! Most amazing jew boots

Ah ok *bunch of slackers*
Well my team will be ready by tomorrow, I hope. I just need to level up two pokes to get moves, that will destroy the competition .I'm looking at you, Identity Crisis! How ya doing, buddy? |
Kairyu vs Identity Crisis
Oh shit, I did my first round against Icy's dragon gym. And my god it was close, too close. The deciding factor was few HP from one of Icy's pokemon ._.
Report: I LOST! 3 - 2! But I gave him a huge run for his money. 1. First battle was a 6v6, we traded hits on the first two pokemon but my combination of moves + perfect prediction gave me the advantage. So, I easily won there with 4 pokemon to spare.Final Count: Kairyu: Lost 13 Pokemon, defeating 13. Identity Crisis: Lost 13 Pokemon, defeating 13. Played one 6v6 and four 3v3 matches. lawl, at least I tied it up in death count! FELIPE NO |
![]() If you have an IM contact that'd be handy in case we have trouble connecting. You can find my IM info in my profile. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Apologies for eating you alive back there. But that's how the ground types roll
.Hopefully you will have better luck against the other types! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
