I wrote off the first car I owned, a 90' Subaru L Series, two weeks after buying it. I pulled out in front of a Ford Courier doing 60 on the highways. Their car was written off too. Despite their car hitting my drivers side door (I had to climb out the window to escape) I was far too fistworthy to be hurt. The other people were fine too which was pretty impressive for old coots. Drove through the same intersection the next day.

Later I did about $1500 damage to my second car by powersliding it along some gravel road while leaving work. It was a totally pro slide but their gate was too thin and the back of my car hit it, snapping me back onto the road to fang down the hill.

My accidents haven't affected my driving confidence but I do now like to have at least $1000 in the bank so i have the money to cover any future extreme driving adventures.
