I was going to post in that thread before I realised it was locked. It's quite logical as to why DK didn't get a platformer style adventure title on the Cube; Nintendo's IPs each cover a seperate genre. You've got Mario for the platformers, Zelda for the adventure/ quazi RPG, Metroid for the exploration/shooter etc. Having a 'DK128' doubles up on the Cube's library, so they find a niche for DK to cover. To an extent, Rare did compete against Nintendo's first party titles last generation. You don't want that for efficiency's sake.
