Well there are some great tracks, especially the few city songs, 1 battle song and the other orchestrated songs.

There ARE a few that I dislike, mainly due to the lack of melody and emphasis... but overall i might rate it a 8.5/10 FROM THE GAME. Until i get the soundtrack i might have a different opinion.

I will be complaining about lack of battle 'Victory Theme'... only happends once in a while *sad*

Yes it does, at some specific point in the game
I was soo happy to heard that when the FMV played with that song *glee*

*sigh* Soundtrack delay really sulks me.
Oh what I really love about this comming soundtrack is that fact that many original FF theme songs are remixed and reused

Okay I am gonna try my best to answer those questions without spoilers... but as Spatula said, its really hard to answer some of the questions without explaining to the extent that you can probably guess the plot >_<

But what I have to say before answering is, play the game your self and judge it upon your own experience. There are positive and negative comments about FFXII, don't listen to any crap like that coz it will bias your opinion when you play FFXII (NA version).

I have also spoilers within spoilers for things that I think will truely spoil the game.

... How am I suppose to answer a 'yes' or 'no' here? A LITTLE will be the closest answer.
More details on why I said 'a little', no characters mentioned so its semi-spoiler:
What I can say about FFXII's ending is that, it will left you pondering what happends to everyone after the game! Even thou a there are few hints here and there about everyone's fate, but it doesn't go to the extend to see them achieving that goal. Little conclusion means, IMO, the war ended (gasp! is that a spoiler?), everyone went back to their lives (OMG! how typical), reminiscence of what happend (typical FF ending)... but what happend to the characters?... I wanna know!
My personal opinion:
So as my personal opinion, i feel empty after playing the game... like nothing is truely completed. Feels like no closure/minimal closure on the story. Also because of the lack in character and character development, you sort of don't really feel for them except fustration at stages within the game.

Does he dissapear from the storyline entirely? Or does it turn out he isn't really the main character? Again, please keep it as spoiler-free as possible.
..., NO, NO, YES.
Thats your very direct answer i guess ^ ^
Semi-spoiler on character development:
As for character developement, as you play through the game, you will soon realise who is actually playing the 'real' game and handling the situation within the chaos. There are a few characters, which their participation are extremly low. They seems just to tag along in this big advanture with little or no purpose at all.
All characters gets developments, but some have much more indepth script on their history and affects on how the story progress.
Spoiler about the main character's role in FFXII:
Vaan the wanna-be-sky-pirate, unfortunatly got hired to do a lonely job in the game. At the beginning we get into his perspective on how he sees the world of Ivalice, but once the major plot crawls in... Vaans role becomes engulfed by everything. At times during the game, he only say a few words or less... like the party needs him just for the 'extra protection'. As I stated before in the previous spoiler, Vaan's character relationship with others are low. Which made me feel less attached to him at the end of the game. Even Penelo have more cameos in the game and she actually 'ends' the game of FFXII... *sigh*

I was speaking idiomatically.

Personally I liked the music, even though its not uematsu-isque style. It is good that FF starts to change, instead of the same formular used again and again. Tatic composer, Sakimoto, did a wonderful job of brining few of the scenarios alive with his music, especially the battle musics ^^

As for the plot, its not of a tragic type... the rest you will just need to find out yourself in November

Nope, release at end of May (31st)... dunno why there was the delay, but I ain't too happy about how SE is delaying a lot of their products recently!

I have just noticed, when have SE start ordering their OST tracks according to their flow/sequence of the game? Have they been doing it since the beginning? coz I am sure back in FFI, II, III OST most of their tracks are jumbled up, not ordered to their track appearance?

Ohh dun worry about lack of random battles... your aggro range will pull you enough battles that you will get so annoyed by it at the end.

Still can't find the English trailer for FFXII

This is the ingame spoiler of the battle system with the 4th person :):
There are a few scenerios where another additional party member can join you! The first entounter is the underground sewer escape (Not including the tutorial at the start). The 4th or more AI characters cannot be controlled and they act according to their own AI-gambit. Usually the AI is crap, coz they tend to do kamikazes!

In the case of the above screen cap Basche is the AI character, but you have to keep him alive!

EDIT: LOL I failed at writing spoiler tag >_<

The first tutorial boss IS easy considering you have a level 20 AI and 6 AI-guards fighting along side with you. It becomes slightly harder when you handle solo near the end of that tutorial.

Hehe, I got the official shiny version of the OST package

Wow you guys are still going strong eh? I finished and moved on to SH:FtNW and waiting for VP:S

I have already put down pre-order with yesasia about the FFXII English version. SO I won't play 100% until I get that

EDIT: Fixed a typo from 'FFXIII' to 'FFXII'

LOL What a typo >_< *indeed an edit is required*

Is the English FFXII confirmed yet? coz yesasia said they were not too sure of the release date... so I am just putting my money down for it.

I have also put my money down for the new PS3 XD
Spending soo much money before Christmas already

VP will definetly come sooner, but now the problem is whether there is any good RPG that wil be release in August? COz I will prob finish VP in June/July and need something for substitute before FFXII come out

Wondering about one question... does Collector Edition also means Limited Edition? Because I really want to get the case, but in most cases of Limited Edition cases Australia never seems to get any of those <_<

I gotta say that S-E's design team finally made some impressive cases and it actually look DIFFERENT to other FF cases

So if thats the collector edition cover, what is the normal edition cover? The same as the JP releases?

Actually I don't know why they complaint about the 'lack of fun' with that battle system. In actual fact, I find this battle system quite challenging, because not only you have to control your character around the field (e.g. Star Ocean type) but also breaking the SO restriction and actually 'program' your other characters AI and telling them exactly how they interact. Lots and LOTS of trial and error will be consumed... especially for those who are not farmiliar with the programming priority hierarchies

There are times where your config just truely sucks and you'll soon realised after you play a few battles, and what makes it even worse is if you just found out that you have forgotten to put 'use potion/cast curaga' command in a boss battle... thats where the fustration and challenge kicks in. My advice to those who haven't played the game, don't see any 'ultimate gambit command' FAQs until you have tried your own.

Thou, I have to say that the slowness in the battle sometimes really gets to me, and plus the characters the way they fight gives me no sense of urgency... sloooowly walking around the battle field XD

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Indeed 8.5 is a bit too low. Remember in the past all FF games have been rated as "Perfect" mark on EGM... maybe because of the readers pressure on stricker game review? I remember EGM and PS2M both got complaint from gamers about biasing in their review... so I guess that what might have happend!

Okau, finally got my preorder internationally booked for FFXII release. I will be playing it again in English just like B4-Hunter

25 Days to go *fingers crossed*

Oh just a question for those who pre-ordered internationally for the Limited Edition of FFXII + LE strategy guide. Do they give you that 20% discount? Coz when I mentioned about the bundle discount they said that doesn't apply for international orders

Actually the funny thing is that my original Japanese version has a slower loading time compared to this copied English version.

I dont think I have encountered much 1 min loading time, usually about 30-40 sec max... but the FMVs does load for quite some time at the start.

Firstly congrate on beating the game~ I am not even that far yet.

However, I have to agree that the final boss was tad easy. I played the JP version 3 times, first time I beat him at normal level range 50-60, next round at the overpowering level 80-95. Last one I set my self a challenges and completed the game in barely 35-41. Out of all, the last one posed a threat the most, especially I limit my self to the number of gambits I can use

Have you try and tackle the Final Clan Mob hunt? The 'H' rank and above!!
In my opinion it would be great if Yazamatto would be the final boss... THEN it would be a challenge

As, Inhert and Freddy said... there are tons of mini-quest that you can take up either to obtain the ultimate weapon of each type or to increase your clan rank and recieve special award tokens (rare goods).

Mob hunt is one of the major side quests, which consist of lot of running around and killing tough enemies. I guess, in summary there are 32 Pub Mobs and 13 Clan Mobs... and I have to say Clan mobs are waaay harder than Pub offers!
