Weird. I have never considered Game Points to be anything about skills. I've thought about it as a way to increase the time you spend on the game. (Like Condemned's "collect scrap metal for POINTS")
Game Points have helped me play some games some more. Hunted all the potions in Kameo? Sure, skill may play a part, but as far as I can see, it's about making the games last longer...

Yes, Xbox 360 looks great on SDTVs. I played some of the games on HDTVs, and I really can't see any difference. Sure, that might just be me, but I'd say that your TV is the last thing you should worry about. I'm pretty sure that GRAW looks great on a normal TV.

Hmm, it seems like that the recent surge of faulty 360s is not due to faulty hardware, but a crappy update which actually harms the 360. I'll see if I can dig the link up, but it's pretty serious...

I'm just glad I haven't used my 360 the last week or so..

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

XBOX 360 UPDATE CAUSES CHAOS?

Distraught gamers report a string of crashing Xbox 360s after the mandatory Xbox Live update earlier this week

A large number of irate gamers are reporting repeated crashes on their Xbox 360s, caused by downloading a mandatory Xbox Live update earlier this week.
Problems occurring since the update range from occasional crashes to extreme cases where consoles have been left virtually unusable, and mailing them back to Microsoft has been the only viable solution. "The update killed my 360. Plain and simple," posted one user on the Official Xbox Forums.

Worryingly, a more serious problem is reportedly being caused by the update. Some users are experiencing crashes when playing Ubisoft's recently released Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter online, which subsequently screws their Xbox 360 consoles with permanent crashes across all games, and even the dashboard.

"The Game froze a few minutes after play," posted a user on the Official Xbox Forums, "The freezing is not just a still image, but more of a haywire fuzz and high pitched sound over the still image. Now, upon reboot, the green power button will start to flash red and will take quite a number of reboots before it fully powers up. This is only temporary, because sure enough, it will freeze within 2 minutes."
Past Xbox Live updates have caused isolated issues, but so far this week's update has caused the most wide-spread outbreak of problems for 360 owners, who filled forums with cries for help within hours of the update going live.

Both Ubisoft and Microsoft were unavailable for comment on the crashing disasters at time of press, although Microsoft is reportedly looking into the problem.
It exploded right in my face;_;

The story if anyone would read about the faulty Xboxs. Also read the comments. Aparently, there's quite some users with problems...

A remote, a wireless controller, some AV cable of some sort, an HDD and I believe a ethernet cable. Not sure about that...

Has anyone heard more about the new update and it's ability to turn the Xbox into a very expensive brick? (Yes, we've all heard about Xbrick, Megalith, you can stop now sweety)
I'm goin to buy Oblivion today, but it really would be great if me turning on the console renders it useless...

A bigger HDD sounds nice, though I've not even filled half of mine yet. But perhaps when the Arcade games gets bigger?

I've heard about the Sega-thing before, more specifically; that it would be possible to download Dreamcast games and play 'em on the 360. Indeed, that would be awesome. No more of me searching eBay for those great games, because I could just download it. I'd happily pay something like £10 for them. Time, or E3, will tell.

Nice to see the shiny plastic look has somewhat disappeared from Mass Effect... And nice star wars-eque alien. Very exciting screenies!

Microsoft recently announced that it will be releasing downloadable games in the middle of the week as part of its Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays program. The company revealed the first five games on the promo's schedule but didn't venture beyond that, ending with Pac-Man on August 9.

Now it appears that a fortnight after gamers are gobbling up ghosts and feeding on power pellets they'll be gambling on inside straights and reading players' tells. On Xbox.com, the product page for Texas Hold 'Em shows a release date of August 23, a date that has been confirmed for GameSpot by a Microsoft rep.

Gamers won't be able to play for money, but that shouldn't bother too many because the game itself is free, making it the second free game for the Xbox 360 after Hexic HD (available gratis on the optional 20GB hard drive). Card sharks will be able to play standard games, tournaments, and various scenarios, as well as create their own poker variants for up to eight players.
That made me think. Would Xbox Live actually gain or lose something, if you could win "money" in games? As I see it, games could get a whole new competition element, with betting and so.

Anyways, now I get the oportunity to try out this "poker" thing...

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oblivion, Hitman... Aaand, I really can't recommend anything else. Saints Row is nothing but a GTA look alike. If that kinda game floats your boat, go for it, but it really isn't that spectacular.
I'm working my way through Chromehounds, so it's a bit early for me to either agree or disagree with Skills.

That'll teach your Xbox to stop walk around with money on the streets >=[

Regarding a cool Xbox 360, I haven't got any such problems (almost). I have taken precautions though. The power thingy has an entire shelf for itself, while the console itself got plenty of space. It did display a red ring, but I guess it was because my USB keyboard blocked some vents or something.

Actually, the only thing in Saints Row that's better than GTA is the aiming. Nothing else. Multiplayer is bland, the story terrible. Where GTA had some funny twists, interesting characters and so on, SR only got crude penis jokes.
So while Shin may or may not have tried the game, his view of the game is pretty damn spot on.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I agree with you regarding San Andreas. By far the weakest chapter in my opinion. Compared to Vice City, however, Saints Row is almost embarrasing.
Though I must admit I enjoy Saints Row. Just don't see it as more than it is.

This thing, http://www.joystiq.com/2004/12/16/xbox-indentifier/ , should be able to tell you all sorts of things, just by putting in the serial number. I haven't tried it, but it's worht a shot, I guess.

Hmm, I can only think of one good reason for buying it, and that's the larger HDD. I don't care about the colour and I'm satisfied with Component (as my HDMI is occupied by my PS3)

However, the price for the HDD seperat is quite spicy. Especially if you translate it to Danish crowns, with VAT and whatnot...

I've never played Ikaruga, but Rez was veeeery fun. As long as they don't go the Billiard game way (by wanting a ludicrous 1.200 for a game) then I'm game.

Just a question; I've never been a fan of those shooter games (and I'll bob the next person who says SHOOTAN on the nose, I swear to God), but should I get Ikaruga when it comes? I've hear all this stuff about it being like the coming of The Flying Spaghetti Monster himself, but still...
