Erster! This week has a very varied selection, all tracks have been given a 5x exposure and this is my conclusion:
1 Point - Agony: ↓ 2 Points - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier: → 1 Point - Eradicate and Evolve: ↑ 2 Points - oblivion (doll): → This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Sorry about not uploading my nom. I'm on vacation and didn't think about it until now. Hopefully you didn't have too much trouble finding it.

I'm going to try to stay on top of the nomination "ball".
=== Kaleb.G === * Album: Final Fight 3 (SNES Game Rip) * Artist: CAPCOM * Composer: (as far as I know, there are no credited composers for this game) * Disc #: 1 of 1 * Track #: 02 of 19 * Track Title: Explosive Situation * Year: 1995 (Japanese release) * Additional Info: This was converted from the SNESMusic.org SPC set using SNESAmp (yes, done on Windows because all the Mac game music emulators sound like shit). The game is also known as Final Fight Tough in Japan. * Source: Info in yellow is based on this game's entry at SNESMusic.org; additional info from MobyGames and GameFAQs. * File Location: nom folder, in about an hour I was speaking idiomatically.

3 points: oblivion - Tsukihime & Girl -doll
2 points: Celebrity of the voice premium compilation album "Voice bowl" - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier [HELLO Mr.CYBORG] (Stage 2) 1 point: Anachronox (Game Rip) - Stiletto Edit Lots of serious/orchestral/drama this week---can't say I cared for any of those tracks (although the Pac-Man track really caught me by surprise, I was expecting something bouncy). The oblivion track was a great musical voyage; and the cyborg one was catchy and fun. Final point just went to stiletto 'cause it stood out among the bland competition. Not a great week. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Next nomination:
* Album: After Burner III Redbook Audio * Artist: Sega S.S.T. Band (I suppose) * Disc #: 1 of 1 * Track #:9 * Track Title: Final Take Off * Uploaded here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
(3 points) Celebrity of the voice premium compilation album "Voice bowl" - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier [HELLO Mr.CYBORG] (Stage 2)
(1 point) Agony (Game Rip) - Intro (1 point) Anachronox (Game Rip) - Stiletto Edit (1 point) Battlefield 2142 (Game Rip) - Battlefield 2142 Theme I was speaking idiomatically. |
No comments this week, unfortunately, but I'm getting back in the habit.
(3 points) oblivion - Tsukihime & Girl -doll (2 points) Cross Edge Original Soundtrack - The Grand Design (1 point) Celebrity of the voice premium compilation album "Voice bowl" - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier [HELLO Mr.CYBORG] (Stage 2) Just missed: Battlefield 2142 (Game Rip) - Battlefield 2142 Theme, Pac-Man World 2 - Clyde in the Caldera What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Agony (Game Rip) - Intro I can imagine a lot of bad puns cropping up if this turned out to be bad, but it's actually fairly good. The synth is pretty terrible, but luckily piano is something that most synths can do pretty well. The music loses a bit of focus over the course of the song, and I wouldn't rank it in my top piano tracks, but it's still enjoyable.
Anachronox (Game Rip) - Stiletto Edit I'm sure this is good in its own way, but I don't go in for this kind of loungy disco music in general. Battlefield 2142 (Game Rip) - Battlefield 2142 Theme As far as military marches go, this is okay, but it's not winning any converts. The synth is pretty bad for such a recent game, and neither the melody nor the rhythm really stands out from similar song. Celebrity of the voice premium compilation album "Voice bowl" - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier [HELLO Mr.CYBORG] (Stage 2) This looks like something someone made up to poke fun at incoherent Japanese album and track names. It has its moments, and is the likely winner this week, but I wasn't a big fan of the overall cheesy sound. Cross Edge Original Soundtrack - The Grand Design Standard VGM rock, with nothing to differentiate it from thousands of similar songs. It gets the job done in terms of having wailing guitars but does precious little else. Echoes of War: The Music of Blizzard Entertainment Legendary Edition - Eradicate and Evolve I was really disappointed with this album as a whole; it didn't capture the best that Blizz songs have to offer, the orchestration was very anemic in places, and there was a general reliance on painful pseudo-ethnic yawling. This has all those weaknesses plus some absolutely hideous effects (like the "skipping" vocals) and it seems to be going in 27 different directions at once. Blech. oblivion - Tsukihime & Girl -doll New-agey stuff takes a long time to get started, and has some nice piano work offset by being pretty boring in places. Pac-Man World 2 - Clyde in the Caldera I guess this is supposed to be menacing? It gets the job done but without any real flair. Disappointing week. Point allocation will be tough since nothing really stood out. The Point Spread Intro - 2 pts. Girl minus doll - 2 pts. Clyde in the Caldera - 2 pts. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Additional Spam: might as well vote while I'm here 3 points: Anachronox (Game Rip) - Stiletto Edit 1 point: Agony (Game Rip) - Intro 1 point: Celebrity of the voice premium compilation album "Voice bowl" - Hello Mr. Cyborg Soldier [HELLO Mr.CYBORG] (Stage 2) 1 point: Echoes of War: The Music of Blizzard Entertainment Legendary Edition - Eradicate and Evolve I thought there were some pretty dull melodies this week, especially in The Grand Design and the zts track I have to give Eradicate and Evolve a point for all the effort it must have taken to combine those forty-six individual pieces of music into one. I mean, I know it's a medley and all, but Shiina, you crazy. Agony deserves some serious props for dropping a piano solo on the Amiga, with a string pad. It's not terrible either, but man that seesawing in the stereo channels gave me and then burst an aneurysm. Gotta stop listening to Amiga music on headphones. ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

Hey youseph, nice to see you're joining in on the Song of the Week fun!
![]() Hopefully that makes sense, it's not the easiest point system around! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Hey guys, remember when I learned my lesson about being late? Man, those were some good times.
3 points: Hello Mr. Cyborg (Stage 2) 2 points: Stiletto Edit 1 point: Eradicate and Evolve Is Pac-Man World 2 the most depressing game or what? Between Clyde in the Caldera and that (superior) Pinky's Revenge track a long while back, I'm honestly confused. Also is Eradicate and Evolve supposed to be an arrangement of the Zerg themes in Starcraft? The only source I recognized was during one of those random synth outbreaks, and not in the orchestration itself. Huh. Honestly, I'm not a fan of this week at all. Thank god for Dangun Feveron, though with a title like that, I was expecting some terrible remix. Stage 2 is probably my second favorite stage theme, closely following Stage 3. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Quick votes before I call it day:
(2 points) Anachronox (Game Rip) - Stiletto Edit Seriously, I nominated this track because I was running out of things to nominate. That and it's quirky, catchy and the scene it plays in is rather hilarious. (2 points) Battlefield 2142 (Game Rip) - Battlefield 2142 Theme It's a nice upbeat orchestral piece that kind of reminds me of Soul Calibur music. (1 point) Agony (Game Rip) - Intro This track wasn't a source of agony at all (sorry, couldn't help it). Interesting melody. (1 point) Echoes of War - The Music of Blizzard Entertainment Legendary Edition - Eradicate and Evolve Would have given this more points had some parts been better (often a problem with medleys). Nice vocals, too. I rather like the tense "Clyde in the Caldera" but ran out of points and some bits could have been better as well. In other news, Muzza has become a venerable. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
I think therefore I am... I think.
