Do you ever try too hard in a relationship and waste your time in the process?
Have you ever been in one of those "relationships" where you're trying to hook up with the other person and even though they have all of these negative traits you keep at it?
Like let's say you meet up with a girl and she seems pretty nice. You start talking to her and she seems nice. And then as you keep talking throughout the days and even after you go on a first date she keeps getting worse and worse? Like, as you find out more about her life and who she is you become less and less attracted to her? You know, one of those situations where she was never the hottest girl around and then even her personality faults her in your eyes? I'm in one of those relationships right now and it totally blows. I'm thinking about just telling her "hey, you're not my type let's stop wasting each other's time" but I keep holding out for something redeeming. Meh, it kinda blows. Plus she's a little younger than me and seems to be stuck in the popular high school kids' way of dating where relationships are a dime a dozen and guys are just useful for money and popularity. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
It's time to break up. I wouldn't want to waste time with a person you don't even enjoy spending time with... Do you even still like this girl? Don't feel bad about moving on since it seems like she isn't serious with you.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |

Wasting time on a person is the worst thing anyone can ever do. You have to ignore those negative people and grow. There is always time for someone better.♥ : )
How ya doing, buddy? |
![]() I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation and how it panned out for them. Most amazing jew boots |
I was speaking idiomatically. |
It's all about prioritizing. Is there something you'd rather do at the moment? Just go at it instead of waiting for something good that maybe not even will come. Well, that's what I'd do.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Usually, you find the really good qualities about someone. Then, when you start to find out the bad ones, you keep in mind the good ones as the reason you are with that person despite the bad ones.
Is this your first girl friend? SOmetimes, people hold on because they don't want to let go, as letting go is hard. And as for your less than flattering description, it makes me wonder even moreso about my previous question. Not trying to be mean or anything, but if you seriously find nothing in the relationship AND see those negative qualities in her, then I am wondering why you haven't ended it already. FELIPE NO |
A lot of the time, people stay in these sorts of relationships because they love the idea that they can change the person, or that the person loves them so much that they'll change for them. In my experience that's why a lot of girls continue going out with guys who treat them like shit.
On a personal note, I once managed to get my girlfriend a ride from her place to mine in a firetruck for valentine's day (she has a bit of an obsession with firemen/firetrucks). I had to tell some pretty awful lies to get it, such as telling the fire chief that she had a rare bone marrow disorder and it would make her day. I was going to extreme lengths to make this girl happy. A few months down the line I realised she was just a big old bag of crazy and left her due to mass increase in arguments over nothing. Try-hard is me. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
The fact that you posted a post in a forum pretty much says that it's time to let her go.
And yes I have. Way too damn much. Jam it back in, in the dark.
It turns out that today is opposite day, so all of what you have said is true, so you should probably just go.
