Did anyone here hook up with someone from Craig's List?

I was watching Entourage the other day and anyway long story short one of the characters went there trying to get laid.

I've never tried it myself, but I did go on of the personal ads from my area and there were some hot girls on there. I really don't care how I meet a girl, but I am currently single and currently looking and don't really care how I meet the girl. If I find her attractive and has a good personality then I'm in. Anyway, I haven't done anything yet, because I'm very skeptical of the whole thing like bots, scams, 50 year old guys pretending to be 23 year old girls, etc. Plus it all seems like a hassle to even bother.

So, has anyone ever done it and had success with it? For people who have done it hardcore, what is the ratio of girls that are real and genuine to bots, scams, frauds, etc?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I haven't, but you know those ads about free sexy hot single women desperate for sex in your area?

Craigslist is for AIDS.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I have a friend who met a guy via Craigslist.
He had a live-in girlfriend that had been with him for 4 years.
She's trying to get him to leave her, but I think perhaps she should just not find guys on Craigslist (also, she has a horrible track record of internet dating/hookups).

Not sure if that's a "success story," but...well...yeah. It's something.

I've met people from a few different websites. Some were nice, some were a little kooky. Met met anybody genuinely crazy because I'm not that dumb. But none of them were beautiful. And I never made a relationship with any of them.

Looking to get laid...I was looking at alexa last night and adultfriendfinder.com was one of the top websites in the country. Maybe there's some luck to be had there.

I thought you were recently married. I just figured the part about sex stopping after the wedding was merely a joke.

Did you guys call it quits?

I have a friend who posted a personal ad about herself on Craiglist, seriously written, but with no intention of ever meeting anyone on it. She just did it for the lulz.

After a while, someone sent her an invitation to a date and a picture of his penis. She was very amused.

So, I don't know much about dating through Craiglist, but I do know that pictures of penises may abound. Your mileage may vary, of course.

I can't believe where I've been. I've only heard of craigslist a few times and I had no idea it was quite so expansive.

The site is really just a meat market, from the looks of it.

My Mum married my stepdad after meeting him in an AOL chatroom.

True story. Eleven years later... they're still married.

I met my girlfriend of over two years from a Yahoo chatroom. Prior to that I was using MySpace for hook ups. I met a couple of girls from there, nothing serious happened. Online dating services are just another way to meet someone and the results are not the same for everyone just as they're not from meeting someone at a bar or club. The advantage with online dating is that you can get to know each other better by email, chat and phone before actually meeting up in real life.

I found my first boyfriend on SOCOM online. I thought it was romantic and we lasted 2 and a half years and became a thing in real life.

Now it's jus a thing of the past .

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I don't know anyone who's hooked up through craigslist, but a friend of mine did find a girl who was offering sex in exchange for gold in WoW. Leading me to think Craigslist is for crazy people.

I use craigslist all the time to buy stuff.

Most of the people on there seem pretty skanky.

I dated a girl for about a year and a half I met online. Then we dated irl for about 6 months. It didn't end happily, but that could have been avoided.

It works for some people I guess.

I don't understand how people can claim they "dated" someone for a year plus that they had never met in person. If you just know each other virtually, it could be entirely a lie and at best I'd call someone friends. I suppose this goes in with the "Love or Sex?" thread, but if there's no physical component of a relationship - I'm not even talking sex, I'm talking seeing the person and knowing they exist - it's worthless. I'm not talking existing relationships that become long-distance and people try to hold on to - at least they know they're holding on to a real person. Claiming that you are "dating" someone you've never met is complete bullshit in my eyes.

I agree with you now, but then I would have argued about it. Everyone has different ideas about what makes a relationship.

Like the beginning of any relationship you trust that the person is being honest and open about him or herself. If both parties are interested in pursuing a romantic relationship after talking thoroughly online and exchanging info and pictures, who the fuck are you to tell them their relationship isn't in fact one because of your own fears?
Meeting online? Deciding you're interested? Sure. But there's a statute of limitations here. Somewhere before the year point, it goes from "potential relationship" to "what the hell is the point". If it's been six months and you're so into someone and you STILL haven't met, either arrange a meeting or give it up.
