FTP Programs
Hello! I run on a Mac Mini. I currently use CyberDuck to connect to member's FTP's. I would like to share, but I do not know any good FTP serving programs for Mac. Is CyberDuck ok? Is there something better that is not too complicated? Thanks.
Jam it back in, in the dark.

Uh, by running a Mac, you pretty much already have an FTP server.
It's just a matter of hitting the checkbox to enable it. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
lol. i have no idea. yeah, i am dumb when it comes to mac computers. plus, i don't know what kind of security my husband has on here. if i had it my way, i'd just trade by uploading to megaupload or yousendit...but i have a feeling most people prefer ftp's.

Mac OS X has a built-in FTP server, but configuring it appropriately is kind of annoying. I'd suggest the excellent PureFTPd, which gives you a lot more control over accounts, access, bandwidth limitations, and doesn't require that you make a bunch of new OS X users for your FTP. You'll still need to configure your router appropriately, assuming you have one.
As for an FTP client, I'd suggest you get Transmit, from Panic Software. WAY better than that CyberDuck nonsense. In fact, it's probably my favorite FTP client on any platform ever. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
killmoms - Well, don't really.
Makin' trailers er'ry day. |
Thanks, Cless! I will have my husband look at those and see if he can help me set them up! (Gosh, I sound like such a loser not being able to configure my own FTP, lol!)
I was speaking idiomatically.
