Killing Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

Hi.

Everytime I turn on my pc, I get a pop-up telling em Windows wants to install the genuine advantage software to ensure all my MS products are properly paid for.

Obviously, as some of them aren't, I don't want to install the thing but I'm getting bored of looking at the pop-up every time I log on. Is there any way to kill the installer? I found a few site telling me how to get rid of the thing once it's installed but I'd rather lose it before it's even got that far.

Any and all advice gratefully received.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not getting any nag screens about Geniune Advantage however. I simply told Automatic Updates that I don't want to install it, and not to bug me about it. Windows simply obliged.

If this avenue doesn't work for you, you may want to activate your copy of Windows and then install the bugger.

I've got Automatic Updates set to, well, automatic. I guess I should switch it to verify mode, restart my computer and then tell it to fuck off.

Is it just Windows this thing verifies or other MS products? My copy of Windows is a totally genuine one, it's my copies of Office and stuff that are slightly more moody.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

To my experience, it is only Windows that is affected. I have not yet experienced an installation of my Microsoft Office 2007 flagged as pirated software.

If you tried to update your Office software through the MS Office Update site, that is when you'd have problems if you have a non-genuine version of Office.

I was speaking idiomatically.
I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall.

Cool, if it still pops up again when I restart I might just install the damn thing. From the looks of things it's not overly difficult to remove it again once it's in there. I just didn't want it to fry all my programmes when I did.

How ya doing, buddy?
