A couple of us picked up interest in the game again (thanks to a current 2x pang/exp event I guess), so now we've usually got around 4-5 people who play daily.

Kind of looking to make it on my permanent rotation of games if it lets me (despite numerous rumors of OGPlanet wanting to drop it due to having one of the worst contracts possible with another company, and their president making some of the worst business decisions possible within a company).

Now for boring discussion / situation of A18:

There is an update expected to hit next Thursday on the 22nd, most likely an eCard update (of which is up to debate on what it may be between fantasy outfits, wedding dresses, themed pajamas and kitty fursuits). The state of loligolf is still kind of ehhh. OGPlanet has fired pretty much every GM that used to exist from 2006~2007, and their new GMs are under contract to not communicate in any way with players in-game or do anything on their own unless they want to be fired. It's also still full of hackers who set their pang values to whatever they want, so the rare economy has gone from ~30-300k (depending on the rarity, character, and the overall "kawaii factor") to ~300k-9m. In a way it's good if you had items you wanted to ditch, but for people who wanted to buy the things they missed out on (which by OGP's A18 rules are only pang items, no eCard items like Korea) it's a big sadface.

I'm going to try to limit myself to ~100USD in any given month, the only things to really blow it on are Mr. eCard (44 attempts for 10USD), Time Boosters, or Pang Mastery. I'd say to a lesser extent Phoenixes too, but they usually go freebie phoenix happy sometimes so I don't bother. Clothing updates are really meh, pretty what all we have is the best there is to offer for those specific characters that is not from Papel or eCard. Another reason to try to limit myself is because if anyone buys Astros (formally known as Cookies back in the day) from OGPlanet, they will have noticed the Albatross 18 Astro options have been shafted tremendously from before. A18 & Rumble Fighters were not making very much money for OGP (which for RF I can understand, but A18? People blow 200USD a day sometimes just trying for specific eCards) compared to Cabal, so they set all the Astro prices based on a Cabal premium service model, so no matter what you buy, you get no bonuses. 200 Astros is 10USD, and 1000 is 50USD. No bonus astros, and no 4.95USD package either. There was another inbetween package that escapes me, 14.95USD I think, but they did away with whatever it was too.

I cycle between Kooh and Cecilia. Mostly focused on Cecilia because her setup is easier for me to play with as opposed to Kooh's (who is geared more for really long distances). Kind of bummed that I dropped 120Astros on Devil Wings for Kooh, then I play some Papel Shop and get Devil Feathers for Cecilia in 5 tries. I tried a bit more and got Devil Feathers for Scout (sup Juan). I've been trying to see if I can dig up Devil or Rainbow Feathers for Hana or Arin but no luck so far.

I've been wanting to give this game a shot actually for a while now, just out of plain curiosity. As I was filling in the registration form I came across the "Inviter's OGPlanet User ID" field. I don't know what you get for that exactly, but if anyone wants to say they invited me, send me your User ID I guess!

There's also a S4 course (much like how S3 brought Deep Inferno, or oh god the walls are closing in and I can't hit anything with 250y drive) called Lost Seaway, which you see various parts of in the trailer above. It's supposed to be an A rank course (aka easy mode).

Another perk of S4 (besides a somewhat totally revamped interface, again) is that the new ppic system (aka missing pangya) enables it so you always do the shot you intend to do; it just may not go where you intended it to go! This system is somewhat present in the Wii games and is a feature of Fantasy Golf PangYa Portable, so it's kind of nice that they added it here. On some courses, missing pangya means you water hazard, or OB, with S4 that's kind of negated unless your shot really relied on going where you wanted it to go.

An example would be Ice Spa Hole 3, where you can attempt to get decent overdrive by doing a Spike, missing the Spike ends up with Water Hazard. However with S4 even if you miss the pangya you will still get your overdrive unless your shot clashes the ice wall and dives into the water (but that's why you spin)

I think they might have gotten rid of that feature (it used to give the person pang after they played so many days or something), but yeah could just use a person's ID I suppose.

In other news I am keeping the game free for everyone. I ended up doubling what I intended to spend, but I got what I wanted in the very end so I'm happy.

To sort of expand on what it was I got. In December OGPlanet updated Mr. eCard with the 15th eCard Rare: Animal Suits. These furry suits are for Hana, Kooh, and Arin (sorry Ceci players, all 2 of you). Mr. eCard is a gambling system like the Papel Shop, except instead of pang you are spending eCards which cost Astros. Now I had tried 88 eCards prior to today and told myself I would stop and just wait for the next rare. However, for some reason I decided to abandon Cecilia and switch to either Hana, Kooh, or Arin. I was having bias towards Hana because she is the one character I have no clothes for besides a swimsuit.

After a long period of hate, and Taco and Saka tormenting me ingame (though Saka wasn't around until the very end) I got all the furry suits:

I was kind of mad that the one person I did not want I got first though. My only other comment is that considering the $ spent, I got really lucky. Some people have hit the weekly amount every week since they first popped up in December and have not gotten one yet.

Good thing unless OGP is really that spiteful it will not happen! Then again, they did bring Halloween outfits over so that might end up happening.

I guess not many people (sorry chanic) ended up wanting to play, but that's okay. Our interest in the game had really died down since there was some confusion and concern over the future of the game. As a matter of fact, OGP decided to cease service in March. Normally this would be pretty sucky, but there's good news!

Ntreev USA, the local branch of the company that makes Pangya, has decided to pick up service on their own. Hopefully they'll also manage to get all the player data from OGP, but in any event the game should be much nicer to play with Ntreev at the helm.

The "open beta" (lol catch all for fuckups) is live, after a very rocky road of account transfer mishaps including reversing everyone's genders.

All of my items are there, but pang and experience have been wiped. The Pang thing was intentional I'm pretty sure, though I can't say the same about the exp. It keeps your rank, but if you had any partial progress to the next level it's been lost.

Open beta's kind of interesting. Most noticeable is probably the fact that a bunch of names got changed to their Korean counterparts, like Uncle Bob -> Azer, Air Lance -> Air Knight, phoenix -> comet. I wonder if they'll switch it back to the established English terms.

Pang got set to 3,000 and exp (but not rank) is wiped, as previously mentioned. Luckily, I don't think I had much of either before OGP's service went down.
