Internet shutdown when using Utorrent
Ok first I'm not entirely sure it's utorrent the problem, I'm currently testing azereus to see if I'll get the same thing.
What's happening is that when I start a torrent in utorrent, my connection on my computer totally shutdown after a few minute. What I mean by that is that utorrent just stop downloading, firefox and explorer can't load a page, msn disconnect, etc etc I just can't go on the internet at all when this happen. The only way to get it back, is by restarting my computer. So I'm guessing it's something in my computer that is doing that. The things is that I tested a little more. I ran utorrent again and waited until my connection just stopped. When it did happen I tried browsing the internet on my ps3 and it worked perfectly fine on my ps3. My ps3 is hooked up on the same router as my computer, so I'm pretty sure it's not the modem or the router the problem, it's really is my computer that just don't want to accept connection. So it's been a while now that azereus is running and that I can download fine with it, so again it's utorrent that is causing the problem... Anyone know what could cause this? How can utorrent cause this problem and why it's only happening on my computer? Could my network card be failing? correction: the same thing happened with azereus so, I,m guessing it's my computer network car or something that is crashing after a little use of torrent... what i dont understand is like 2 week agao it didn't do that, it's start like last week when I formated my computer... could it be it? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

This is an issue with the new version of uTorrent (well, new as in the last couple years), but it's considered a "feature" as opposed to a bug, so it won't be fixed. From what I've read, it's related to how many connections uT uses...some routers simply can't handle that many, and some believe they're being "attacked," i.e. DDoS, and severely limit traffic for a certain period of time to protect the network.
So basically the solution is to limit your connections. I've got mine set to 100 and usually it does fine. Apparently disabling DHT helps too, so try that. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I already limited the connection. It's doing this with any torrent I'm using, it's like my computer can't handle it and just shut down the network card...
(btw this sho0uld be in help desk I made a mistake) This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
I have experienced internet crapping out in the past after a few minutes of using Bittorrent clients. I could not isolate a solution, but it went away after I replaced my router with a Linksys WRT54GL with custom firmware.

I upgraded my router firmware (it's a Speedtouch 585 v6) and now whenever I open uTorrent, the router actually reboots itself.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
well I manage to solve my problem with a fresh format again. Apparently I screw something up with the last one when I tried installing the latest driver for my motherboard. The one that came with the original CD seem to work better. Since for some reason my computer crash every time I tried to revert back to the original driver, that's why I had to do another format. (its the 4th in less than a month >.<)
I downloaded all night with utorrent with no problem, so I guess it solve it. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
I have to say this is the first time I've ever heard of motherboard drivers affecting the internet connection when doing peer-to-peer downloading.
