supergirl

this is my first thread - just thought to make one about ME~ (heheh, i hope this is no repeat or something)

i really like the new supergirl story arc. (aside from the sidestories, etc)
though i have to admint that i am not a total comic buff ...i kinda will get lost in the whole infinite crisis story arc.
has anyone seen the new supergirl comics? like from the first cameo in superman/batman till now?

just got #5 not long ago (hard to find)


what do you ppl think of the character development and the diff between the past supergirls?? o.O

She started well enough out, but unfortunately turned into Loebs "Superman is Godlike" Agendas.

Loeb is kinda notorious for his Superman love and it seriously taints whatever he writes. I have to say, I did prefer the former Supergirl, written by Peter David a huge lot more, but look forward now to her visiting Kandor and being in L.E.G.I.O.N.
That could be pretty good (lets just hope she wont have to deal with Preus in Kandor, no fun seeing her fight with a massmurdering rapist....)

Just so you know, it's The Legion of Super-Heroes. L.E.G.I.O.N. is the current-time Legion-like organization.

As for Supergirl, I really don't like her. Loeb made her stronger the Superman, as if we need someone more powerful than ungodly. Also, it seems pointless. The last Supergirl was a fine character, yet her comic eventually failed and she was done away with. So, why does DC think this one will work? Also, we already have a Supergirl. Her name is Power Girl.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

the second supergirl was called matrix right? honstely, i don't like the idea the new supergirl being older.. as for strength, i do believe that Kal-el did hide part of his strength since he's been on earth longer.

i do think that the whole amnesia thing was overly done throughout the comicbook history (and the dual personality, mind-control). just seemed the story arc is quiet well written IMHO.

i am not too sure about power-girl's history. i mean, with all the different writers getting to write the story, it is pretty confusing XD.

I like how I got the first issue of Supergirl for a buck at my local comic shop.

I always mix the names up... but to my defense, they pretty much change the name every second reboot somehow. No surprise there then.

YOu should read issue #5 then.
Superman "pimpslaps" Supergirl and tells her "I can take you down whenever I want."

As I said, it was once more one of Loebs little Agendas. Create Char A, have Char run through EVERY team in the DCU, then have Superman show Char A up, proving Superman >>>> Char A.

Most people I knew foresaw that the moment she appeared in S/B, unfortunately.

About SG.
I think she does have a lot of potential. There is her "Dark Side" (which Loeb forgot to explain how it remerged with SG), there is the ancestral rivalry between her father and Kal Els, then now Kandow and the Legion of Superheroes stuff.

They *can* make her a great character, but we will have to see if she can live up to her pre-crisis predecessor.

Don't worry, it *is* confusing with both Matrix and PG.
I wasnt a fan of Matrix either, it just seemed a wierd choice for a Supergirl (and the fact she slept with Luthor, while in truth being an amorphous being didnt help...). Then she later merged with Pads Supergirl and the stories got good.

In fact, IIRC there were THREE Supergirls in the last 3 years, with the new one even FOUR.
Matrix, Pads SG, then Cir El, and IIRC another one.

Like I said, I think they can make her good. They have the tools, lets hope they also have the right writers
