Also what's wrong with Professor Layton? I know for a fact you haven't played it, so who the heck are you to judge them as lesser than some of their RPGs? =/

But one does wonder, is Level 5 such a recognized name in Japan that it boosted the massive sales the game had, or does it have something to do with quality?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hm? I only pointed out that Level 5 made Professor Layton. It hasn't even come out in the US though, so no I haven't played it. Since I said DQ9 was being made by them, I just tossed in Prof. Layton as another one of their games. I don't know whether or not it sucks or it's a "lesser RPG."

And yeah, after they developed Dragon Quest 8, their name should be synonymous with talent. DQ is far more popular than Final Fantasy in Japan, as far as I know.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The Professor Layton games aren't really RPGs, I don't think. Then again, I don't really know much about them. A better name to throw out would be Rouge Galaxy.

But, yes, Level 5 is very talented. Especially after looking what they did (graphically, at least, I don't know off hand what else they did) to DQ8 (a HUGE step up from 7, really), I'm sure they'll continue to do good things.

Yeah, Layton games aren't RPGs, but rather Adventure games with puzzle-solving and the like. I myself haven't tried the first yet (and the second isn't out), but I've heard very good things.

Honestly, I've mixed feelings about Level 5. I'm pretty neutral towards the Dark Cloud/Chronicle games, liked Dragon Quest VIII, and disliked Rogue Galaxy's mind-numbing hack 'n slashing.

I was speaking idiomatically.

From PS3
- Eternal Sonata [new anime scenes/new recruitable characters]
- White Knight Story
- The Last Remnant. From seeing the trailer it seems that Bosch's doing Rush Sykes
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Final Fantasy Versus XIII

From DS
- Final Fantasy IV

From 360
- Infinite Undiscovery

From Wii
- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
- Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk

unknown
- Star Ocean IV: First Departure & Second Evolution
- Grandia IV

Seeing as there's a Grandia online game under the name; Grandia Zero.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I've had this HUGE craving to play Star Ocean: The Second Story lately, but I've been forcing myself to wait for the PSP port to make it over here. I might just crack and put the PS1 version on my PSP though...

I'm going to add the sequal to Ar tonelico to my list, simply because I didn't know about it until I read about it on this thread, and to top it all off, I never beat the first game until yesterday night ( It's a FANTASTIC game!) I'm really looking forward to it.

I've been steadily hating almsot every modern RPG to the point where I've pretty much given up on anything that's 3D.

Fortunately, there's those Star Ocean remakes coming to the PSP that promise to be good. I loves me some Star Ocean 2, warts and all, and for some reason I'm not predicting disaster even though they're heavily remaking the game. I wanted to play Star Ocean 1, but the original SNES game is terribly clunky, so a revamp to match the SO2 gameplay should help with that.

It's not technically a commercial release, but I'm also waiting with bated breath for the Mother 3 translation to be completed. Damn you again for not porting this, Nintendo.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'd say "Persona 3" (will be relased Feb 28th in Europe) and FFXIII. It's just a shame I have to buy a PS3 for one game - and the consol can't play PS/PS2 games. Very bad.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As a big FF7 fan I'm really looking forward to Crisis Core.

How can you not get hyped after watching that.

Now that I have a PSP, my most-wanted RPG for the next 6 months is definitely Crisis Core. It is hard for me to imagine having a portable FFVII-like game. Good times ahead...
